I've said all along that Samaras isn't good enough. Scoring two league goals does not warrant a a new contract. Even though it was aginst the knuckledraggers. He just infuriates me.

letting players run their contracts down, and leaving for free isn't good business practice for a club such as ours. As we don't get massive amounts of tv money or regular CL money, we need to ensure we get the best possible price for our footballing assets as possible, when we decide to sell. I am not happy that we are in the situation that hinkle will leave for nothing this summer when we paid a substantial transfer fee and wages over the length of his contract. with sammy, he attracted interest from newly promoted spanish clubs, last summer and that might well again.
he is terribly inconsistent, which is frustrating but has played well against the huns on is own up front. A useful option in europe next season.

A useful option up front my *. We dont need useful options we need players who can give us a semblence of consistency. This average player has been given a lucrative contract on the basis of one good game against the huns, ONE. He didnt play that greatly in the other one and was rank in the final.

I sincerely hope they intend to hawk him around europe in the summer but I fear he will be here next season.

Let's be honest, Stokes is more inconsistent than Samaras. We need options. Like Mjallby said, Samaras can win balls off bigger opponents - something our other strikers can't do. We need to keep our options open. It is good business to get him contracted so that we can cash in on him if we choose to go down that road. Samaras has been an important player for us in the old firms this season. Don't discount that. We can smash aberdeen for 9 but when it comes down to it , we are expected to win those games. The old firms are massive and samaras has been massive in those games.

bar the cup final (and even then he was one of the only better celtic players on the day), samaras hasn't had a bad game against R*ngers, he's been brilliant in the rest, he runs them ragged.. he deserves at least another year to prove himself.

he's a good option to have.

i remember in the run in at the end of the season, when we won all 7 games, the season big jan got the heider in the last minute against them lot.....Sammy scored a couple of important goals,

and with a congested run in, on it's way, sammy's experience could be needed.

I think the length of contract was a mistake, yes.

2 years instead of 3 would have been my preference.

I don't think he's a particularly good option to have Paddy.I,like alot of people, got over excited when he played well against the huns at Mordor.I thought the player from 2008 that scored important goals was back.I was wrong.Very wrong. You've got to remember the first goal was a fluke and the second a penalty.
Apart from score these 2 goals,I can think of nothing he has done to deserve to be here, nevermind get a start ahead of Stokes, who has been scoring goals for fun.
I just don't think a once in a blue Moon performance is good enough.I don't think beardy face is good enough for this club and can't wait to see the back of him. He's a nice guy and all that and to his credit he tries and appears to love the club but that doesn't cut it.He's had well more than a year now to show us what he can do and has failed..

Differnt type of player than rest of our strikers, gives us the option to change formation, when needed. I think he is good as lone striker, but he was very good when paired with Maloney few years back. There is no chemistry between him and Stokes/Hooper, but if one of Stooper can't play - we can try the Samaras/Maloney combo, where Shaun plays as second striker behind Sammy. He is important part of our team and his contract is not a mistake.

We keep hearing this phrase "he gives us something different". He certainly does. Other than a decent game against the huns in January he has been different. Different in that he cant score, cant link up, loses the ball too easy and is unsure of who he is playing alongside.

Pretty much what he has been like since he came to our club. I dont rate him one bit and the cup final performance was coming like a express train with lights on and horns blaring.

Dont give me something different if its *. Give me consistency or goals. Samaras should have walked in the summer, I am sure we could have gotten better for the wages he is on. Now we have re-signed him, lets sell him.

And in the cup final, Murphy would have been more effective of that I am sure and why Stokes didnt get on is one of lifes mysteries that only Neil can explain.

Samaras absolutely tore them apart in january, so no,not just a fluke and a penalty as you put it...

don't think for a second i'm judging him on that performance alone, i genuinly feel he is a good option to have, has experience winning the spl, (our only striker to have done so) he's scored important goals, he knows himself what he needs to do.

i honestly think on his day he's the best in the spl, he's unplayable...strong, quick, can hold the ball up and can finish... unfortunately he doesn't do it nearly enough as i'd like... and when he doesn't do it, he's poor.... hopefully this'll be worked on, perhaps it's a confidence thing, with all the stick he has to take from the fans.

One thing is, Lenny sees that he's good enough to play with us, and that's the important thing

Samaras wouldnt have played in the January game if Hooper had been fit, that is a certainty. Going into that game there were NO Celtic fans confident in a player who hadnt scored all season to that point and was pretty far down the pecking order. He had a great game no doubt, but lets be honest, since then he has been pretty poor. In all that he has kept Stokes out of the side, and out of the Cup Final.

Despite Neil having a great season, he is still a young and inexperienced manager and for that, I beleive that he made a mistake in the final. Not in starting Samaras, but in failing to get Stokes on at some point in the game. So in Lennon I still trust, but he should have had Stokes on, agreed? Top scorer on the bench, didnt get a sniff? Strange.

Also Neil has signed Murphy so maybe his striker signings are needing worked on a wee bit.

It was * great to see Stokes and Hooper back together again on Wednesday night, the confidence in the team was almost as it was @ 6 weeks ago.

where've i said he shouldn't have come on?... just because i think sammy is a good option doesn't mean i don't think stokesy's good enough, i love stokesy, and prefer to play him upfront with hooper from the start....because of sammy's inconsistency. like i said he's a good option to have.

as for sammy not being first choice, and only played because hooper was injured, surely to * we have to give him the praise he deserves for taking the chance he was given, so well.... hooper or stokes couldn't possibly have had a better game than sammy did that day.. he won us the game and he should be praised for it... none of this...."aww it was an open goal and a penalty" it was a lot more than that.... and it meant a lot more than that to me that day

my first time at ibrox, with what i thought was a weak side...

    ooh ahh samaras:celt_2:

Absolutely garbage today. I couldnt believe he stepped up for the penalty and he proved me right  that aside, his all round performance was gutless, lazy and frustrating as * when the game is a potential league decider.

The only positive of him signing a new contract is that we can make a few quid when he leaves (this summer hopefully).
