Christie is at his absolute best when he can go box to box, it’s what made him a first team player. Trying to overplay and being drawn into full back positions chasing the ball etc... badly impacts us as a whole. His stats still make him important though, he provides end product.

Broony has definitely started poorly no denying that, 5 bookings already is a major warning sign for a guy that evolved his game so not to get them.

When u see how easy it has been to get in behind our midfield and at our defence then the 5 bookings aren't that surprising. Last ditch tackles have been the norm for him so far. I'm still not sure if the problem is Brown or Brown covering for others or both. Whatever it is, it's worrying.

I'd defo drop him for a bit and give Turnbull a chance to see what he can do. Christie is brutal at shooting, holding the ball too much and set pieces. He's not particularly great at passing/through balls either, but he does get assists so can see why he plays.
If he has to play I'd prefer to see him deeper next to Calmac.

I agree, best probably mixing Ntcham, Christie, CM and Broony in that position.

If Ntcham was to leave then wee Soro. Not sure even if Turnbull can slot in there.

No. 10 (Am) I'd give to Mo and Rogic.

Ryan Christie has been a revelation since coming into the Celtic midfield.

Has his form dropped slightly? Yes.

Does his overall play need improvement? Yes.

But remove him from the team and we are in trouble. As frustrating as he can be with his ambitious shots and passes, he carves out goal scoring chances every single game. He is our most creative midfielder at the minute.

You’ve got to remember he plays out of position most of the time. Either our wide or as a 10, none of which are his natural positions. He is more of a number 8, box to box, all-action midfielder.

90% of the time we are playing teams who on paper we should easily beat. We need more creative players on the pitch and less defensive players. That’s why Brown should be the first one dropped out of midfield.

NL: “Ryan was a positive influence in the game, he’s a player that’s very important and we’re starting to see the best of him as we go on.”

Long term he wants to play down south, but he has absolutely no desire to leave this summer. For what it’s worth, I was told the same thing about Armstrong who went on to sign a new deal with a guarantee he’d be allowed to leave the following year. I’d imagine that Celtic are trying to engineer a similar deal with Christie.

I do think Christie is trying too hard at the moment though. He needs to settle down, be a little less frantic and take less risks. He’s been our most creative player this season, but he’s also been our most frustrating and wasteful in possession.

As O'Dea said whats Sibbald even trying to do swinging the boot in like that, if he got the ball he'd have been punting it out for a corner

3 goals & 6 assists from 9 games this season.

    His poor start continues...

2 goals for Scotland as well

A bit like Fernandes of Man Utd, just scores and sets up goals for fun even though at times he loses the ball or shoots too much but you'd rather them than Ntcham/Pogba trying to do what they're doing.

Ziyech who went to Chelsea as well plays the same way, lot of Hollywood stuff, things that don't come off but get stuck in and goals and assists just continue to flow.

63 goals and assists in his last 67 starts and 13 sub appearances for Celtic, 33 goals and 30 assists.

Unheard of stuff, especially for a midfielder.

For Scotland as well he has 3 goals and 5 assists in his last 8 starts and 2 sub appearances.

Both of them are in the same time frame as well, since the 25th of October 2018 he has 36 goals and 35 assists (71 goals and assists) in 75 starts and 15 sub appearances for club and country.

    Incredible stats that.

He can be frustrating at times with been so wasteful with his use of the ball at times, been too greedy and a lot of poor crosses from set pieces but you can’t drop him when he is producing numbers like that.

I cant disagree more with the idea of moving him back. His productivity in goals and assists is something that needs encouraged.

For me, he should be given a free role in behind a lone striker or when spearheading a midfield three.
