Anderson would be a good addition to the squad. Similar in style to Caldwell and if big Bobo's going then he would be a good replacement. I was impressed today although to be honest he wasn't playing against much as Miller and Jarosik were very poor.

I think Russell Anderson would be a solid buy and lets not forget he is out of contract in the summer. So if we were to get him on a pre contract in January and then for free in the summer a la Gary Caldwell then I think that would be a very tidy piece of business. Balde could be moved off the wage bill in the summer and I think Anderson would be a solid replacement

To be fair he has been played all over the shop by Man U over the last couple of seasons and that can make it tough on any player. Maybe a change of scene would be the boost he needs. Always thought his best position was left back anyway. Never have liked him as a center back.

A bit of snobbery about SPL players joining.

Russell Anderson is not out of contract in the summer. He has 18 months of his contract left.

And who is to say that he would actually want to sign?

He has probably been the best defender in the SPL so far this season. With an average team, the Dons have only shipped 3 goals less than Celtic in the SPL this season

Usually the thought of having European football, trebling your wages, and the chance to escape from the thriving city of Aberdeen is enough to convince anyone.

Anderson would be no more than a fringe player imo

IMO, Anderson is a shade better than Caldwell, mainly because he is more consistant and does not have the odd wobbler. He is miles better than Bobo who surely will be punted in January. Anderson is now in his peak years and I would love him at CP. Mind you, if Aberdeen have any self respect, they wont let him go for less than 3 million. If I was Jimmy Calderwood I would be looking for 4. SPL clubs have been selling too cheap for years now. Def. dont go for a foreign centre half.

    3 million????!!!!???

    Are you off your rocker?

It would take less than half that to shift him.

Aberdeen have their money worries like every other SPL club

An English club would pay 3 million for Anderson. Put it this was, how much would you want for mick if we sold him? I would want over 3 million for him.

I don't think anyone would pay 3 million for a player who has spent his entire career with a * SPL club.

And he only has 18 months left on his contract, Aberdeen will have to sell him if he doesn't extend it.
They couldn't afford to let one of the few players they have with a transfer value enter the final year of his deal.

A bid of 1.25 or 1.5 million would be enough imo

They could lose him next year for nothing, £1.5m MAX.

Its hard to find the right player for the right price in the january window. Most teams dont want to be losing players half way through a season.

We're not saying Anderson will be a first team regular, but it would be good in january to use money received for pearson on anderson. It means we have back up for defenders
