If someone has their hand round my neck and is over he top of me you better believe I’m putting a hand up to try and protect myself. He’s not gouging his eyes. They are just being soft because they were getting hammered! If only Wilson got punished it would be a shocking decision. Best thing to do is tell them to stop * about and get on with it.

Owens dealt with it with typical humour and control. Some man.

    He’s an incredible referee.

Love the sound bites when he just says things like “you can’t do that” and you can tell he’s just shaking his head at the player in disappointment

Nigel Owens is the only good thing left in Rugby Union ....... Since the game turned pro, the authorities have ruined the game with their law changes. Where once there were great forward battles (sometimes literally), and space for backs to play; now there is just an endless stream of mini rucks featuring 2 players from each team, with no room to move, and each team just playing hit up rugby with the first receiver. It's all very dull.

He is a ledge (& a Wrexham fan to boot!)

Edit: I remember Owens ‘coming out’ live on Jonathan Davies’ TV show. He literally came out of a wardrobe in a pink shirt if I remember correctly.

Well we both got our wish this weekend and the Ireland v Scotland game now is set to be a real barn burner. Really looking forward to that one already. Hopefully Ireland get a few of our injured players back now in time for Scotland to bolster our chances Ringrose and Furlong both should be back. Big credit to Chris Farrell who was immense against Wales as was Andrew Porter. They both really stepped up and showed they can play a big part when it matters going forward. A real statement performance for us in that win against Wales even with Sexton having an off day we really got at them all day and this time made the pressure count.

Aye Ireland favourites now, will be an interesting match. Really looking forward to it if we can win with a BP going into the Italy game we’ve got a chance.

    Shoulda blinded the *..

How good was it seeing Mike Brown (who I think is a fantastic player) getting rag dolled and overrun after his antics and getting it right up us at Murrayfield a couple of year's before..

Reading a few paper's today on the train and * me that has hurt them. Even better..

Hard to say whether it will be a tight game or an open one. I suspect it might be quite open. But certainly from our perspective if we can win we would be in as good a position as we could have hoped for after 4 rounds. It looks like we will get Ringrose back although so good was Farrell I imagine he will start again and Ringrose will be there to strengthen our bench. Porter had a really good game as well although I would expect Furlong to start if he is fit again. The interesting one will be Sean O'Brien. I don't see him starting against Scotland but will he make the bench we will see. That would be a real boost if he even makes the bench.

I respectfully acknowledge your right to hold a differing opinion to me :) . I used to love Rugby Union as a kid; in fact I often went to watch Orrell (my club) or Lancashire (my County) ahead of football during my teenage years.

However, to my eyes, the game has evolved into a constant stream of endless mini-rucks, and lost the forward battle of scrum, lineout, ruck and maul which was such a feature of the game in the 70's, 80's and 90's.

Fair play, mate. I suppose I’ve got little frame of reference being born in 92 :D

I started watching and playing Rugby in 1973, aged 10.

If you ever watch old rugby games from the * days, it's almost a different sport. Okay nowadays, they're bigger, stronger full-time athletes. But the rule changes, differing tactics, the fact they all spend hours being coached on defence; has stifled the individual brilliance.

Watch a video of the BaaBaas v the All Blacks in 1973, the forwards were sucked into the breakdowns, and uncoached, * backs just improvised (and had lots of space to do it in). The game was a bit scrappy, a lot slower, played off the cuff, but it had a joy and freedom that is now missing (plus they've taken out the punch ups and mass brawls, which let's face it, we all secretly love)
