rooneys played more than them aswell though ronaldos got 21 goals in 22 games, rooneys only got 9 goals more than him and he's played 16 games more and messi has 26 goals. rooney is a striker aswell whos played most of the season up front through the middle so you would expect him to score more but he doesnt really if ronaldo was fit all season he would be the top scorer and messi will probably still score more than rooney

This is what I was about to say, Rooney plays up front, Messi and Ronaldo don't. Plus if you look at league goals per game then Rooney has 0.85, Messi 0.86 and Ronaldo 0.88

ifs and buts m8 , plus messi is playing with better players round him and barca create more chances than anyone in a game so its no suprise he scores alot but still less than rooney this year . plus the defenders in la liga arent as good as they are in the EPL, would it help if he changed his name to rooneydiniho lol

I'd say David Villa is better than Rooney aswell. Hasnt failed to scored more than 20 goals all in since 2001-02 thats a * striker for you!!

    2001-02 Sporting Gijon 44 apps 20 goals
    2002-03 Sporting Gijon 40 apps 20 goals
    2003-04 Real Zaragoza 46 apps 20 goals
    2004-05 Real Zaragoza 46 apps 20 goals
    2005-06 Valencia 40 apps 28 goals
    2006-07 Valencia 49 apps 21 goals
    2007-08 Valencia 41 apps 22 goals
    2008-09 Valencia 40 apps 31 goals
    2009-10 Valencia 29 apps 20 goals....

Awww and Spain 55 apps and 37 goals.

I'd say Torres is a better all round player than Rooney aswell.

    My list would be-
    1. Messi
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    2. Ronaldo
    3. Xavi
    4. Iniesta
    5. Villa
    6. Torres
    7. Drogba
    8. Rooney

Messi for me. He's fantastic as an individual as well as a team player. His movement is phenomenal as is his passing, shooting and dribbling. Rooney is great as a team player but slightly behind Messi as an individual in my opinion, although he's better in the air than Messi. I think Ronaldo is a fantastic attacking player but I can't bring myself to like the *. Especially after he kicked Brown.

Cristiano Ronaldo for me. He has the wow factor about him the way he plays. I suppose Messi does too but I've always thought Ronaldo was the better of the two.

    I've never liked Wayne Rooney.

Got to be Messi - he is a class above.

After him Ronaldo - despite being a * - is probably the 2nd best in the world.

Rooney is maybe in the top 10 somewhere, but definitely below the likes of Xavi and Iniesta. He has hit a patch of scoring form, so naturally the english are bigging him up ahead of the World Cup. But he's not even in the same league as Messi...

At this moment in time, Rooney is the best player in the world. I voted for him.
Messi would be a close 2nd but I'm beginning to worry about him as he doesn't produce the goods for Argentina on a regular basis.

In fairness nobody's really playing consistently for Argentina atm. Something about being managed by a cocaine addict.

I don't think there's ever been a case of such a poor manager taking on such a good squad though... I mean what situation really compares? I would generally agree but this is just such a peculiar situation; Maradona's only managerial experience was flaming out in the Argentine league 15 years ago followed by a decade of struggles with cocaine, health, and obesity. Rooney struggled mightily last year after being misplaced by SAF as a winger... his success this year is a result of being played in the correct position, not a sudden revelation in talent. He's been at this level for at least a year I think.

rooney, i'll take slightly less skill with brass balls over a player with superior skill everyday and i don't think anyone plays with more guts than rooney atm. i'm not a rooney fan but these are the facts
