    Armistice Day.

They only do it on the second Sunday in November so they can ensure we are playing away in the highlands.

During the First World War, on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918, the guns of the Western Front fell silent after more than four years of continuous warfare. In many parts of the world, people observe a two-minute silence at 11am on 11 November

You wonder how long it will go on aswell, has there not been literally hundreds of wars as well. Could probably be doing minutes silences every day of the week as a war ended on that day 400 year ago.

It'll be used as long as it's useful for those in control to stir up a bit of blind Jingoism.

The whole thing is actually being ruined by the people who are making Remembrance Sunday about "other conflicts" and turning it into a front for British Nationalism. If the poppy was purely about the two World Wars then I would have no hesitation in wearing one or observing the minute's silence. But things being as they are, I absolutely refuse to wear a poppy and I don't bother with the minute's silence either. It's become a point of principle because of what the whole thing has now been turned in to.

The whole thing has been * up and what it really should be all about has got lost in the crossfire. That's probably the saddest thing of all.

If anyone has one of the poppy tops, I'd love to buy one from you. I'm not even kidding. I've always wanted one.

You are literally the worst troll ever.

People are meant to get mad at you Jorge not laugh at you. :smiley-laughing002:

Don't the veterans of other conflicts deserve to be respected and cared after as well though? Didn't they go through hardships of their own? The only thing I can't stand is someone who disrespects someone who volunteered their life for their country. Its not about the politics. Its about the men and women whose lives are permanently altered by service to their country in uniform. Its this attitude of - "well the war was wrong, so we hate the veterans also, they shouldn't have volunteered". Its downright dispicable.

No one is trolling here. Or maybe I am being trolled by people who want to make it seem that I am, I don't know. I am the only non-left poster here, so I must be a troll. Go figure.

On Remberance Sunday, of course. Isn't that the logical time to do that?
