    Now there's an interesting thought.

I am gonna throw this question out for debate...........................

If a green light was to be given to Celtic fans tomorrow to sing Roll of Honour etc at matches again, do you think the atmosphere, which has been absolutely woeful recently, would pick up again straight away?

So this has been reported on by The Herald, STV, BBC, Radio 1 mentioned it in the midweek update and An Phoblacht.

That is a lot better than I expected.

Well done everyone involved, no matter what happens on Sunday I would say job done.

It wouldn't make even the slightest bit of a difference at home games, there's countless songs that Celtic fans can sing and being allowed to sing one more isn't going to change anything.

NO,i am and never was a fan bhoy of the GB but without them parkhead is a poorer place to attend, bringing my wee boy to his first game next season, hope all is back to normal by then,a 6 year old is not interested in football as such, but the atmosphere is what will make him a fan for life

Firstly I think Sween is at it a bit only highlighting that particular line as folk like 88 have is spectacularly missing the point and this is not about Celtic fans been "desperate" to sing any particular song.

In terms of atmosphere as most people accept there have been a myriad of reasons why the atmosphere has suffered so much but one has certainly been the ever increasing harassment of fans. I am not saying those fans that have stopped going because of this are bigger, greater or more real Celtic fans than anyone else but it would seem they are more vocal at games. Therefore if Celtic fans were told tomorrow we can sing this without fear of persecution then I think it would create a better atmosphere. Certainly short term and hopefully that would be a catalyst to actually getting some atmosphere back inside Celtic Park.

No, but people would feel more secure to sing the songs that have been sung from the terraces for many a year.

Only way our atmosphere will increase dramatically-quick is with the introduction of standing areas.

That is kind of my point though. As daft at the law is, and leaving aside the question of song appropriateness, it is sad that a better atmosphere would be created if fans get to sing about the IRA as opposed to singing about Celtic. If people want to sing rebel songs, they certainly shouldn't be charged under any nonsensical law, but whether they are allowed to sing about the IRA or not should not be significant enough to improve the atmosphere at Celtic Park. Being given the green light to sing about any army or war or bombing campaign, or whatever else, should not be able to improve a poor atmosphere at a game of football. If that is true, to me it suggests that peoples priorities regarding who they are there to support are out of line with what they should be at a game of football.

Surely your problem is with the none-Republican Celtic fans who couldn't be bothered to create an atmosphere no matter what the circumstances or songs are... what's stopping them from singing songs about Celtic and that are purely about the football?

Also what's with this "should" nonsense, who are you to tell people what people "should" be singing about. Just because people sing these songs doesn't mean their priorities are any more or less about the football club. Creating an atmosphere is the most important sing and if it happens to be these rebel songs that get the crowd going than that definitely isn't a bad thing, and it's more to due with an issue you have. You, one solitary person.

In saying this I actually don't think fans being allowed to sing this song i particular will make much of a difference to the atmosphere anyways.

I am not telling anyone what to sing. People can sing what they like. As I say, it just sits uneasy with me that there is such a demand to sing about such things. But anyway, I am probably derailing this thread so I will leave it at that.
