I'd like to have him back but he'd need to take a huge wage cut.

i think keanos a Top player . Different class at times.

But must admit , lost a wee bit of respect for him for not staying longer at celtic . I remember at the end of that season, lennon as interim manager ..was busting his balls to try convince him to stay but he eventually left . I duno the reason behind it .. but i was disapointed to see him end up at west ham of all teams like.

Would love to see him back though .. if something materialises .

I don't think Keane didn't necessarily want to come back, but at the end of the day he was under contract for Tottenham and he was only here on loan. I'm sure Redknapp would rather him play somewhere on loan in the premier league then in Scotland. I don't fault him one bit over what happened a year ago.

Keep Stokes, Bring in Long and another young hungry striker not a 30-something trying to get a final payday before retirement.

I think we will try to sign him if we don't get Long.

I'd love both so I don't care which one it is as long as we get one.

Scored again for Ireland, people that say he's not a class striker are clueless. Just look what he did in his short spell in the SPL.

I wouldn't mind seeing him back up here, he is still a class act. Although I wouldn't be breaking the bank on him would rather see money going on a new CB and GK first.

I don't think people are saying that. Most, like me, would rather see the money put towards a good striker who will improve, not one that is declining in talent and value who would command wages we can't afford.

    Grand old team

Was that the short spell that cost us over 1.5m in wages to score goals against Kilmarnock & Falkirk ?? He never turned up against Rangers yet another badge kisser who was brought in by an under pressure board to deflect the mess they made with Mowbray. ....What did Commons cost us and has scored more goals from midfield than him or is it because he`s "Orish" he gets an easy time. Would rather have a settled built team for the future than these over paid mercenaries saying they always wanted to play for us at a price.

The entire team was * man, it's not just Keane's fault that he didn't score against Rangers. * with Bougherra stepping on his ankle every other play, it would definitely be difficult to score. End of the day he scored 16 goals in 19 apps for us and that is pretty * good and that was only half the season. Before you start making bullshit statements about Commons scoring more than Keane (he only scored 14 in 22 aps) you might want to look up the stats first. The whole argument about not scoring against Rangers is a joke, we lost the season at Inverness, if only we had someone like Keane who had that little extra class and could score goals against * teams in tough games where the rest of the team is playing like *. Included with that, how many penalties did we miss the entire season? I guarantee you Keane would have put most of them in, that's the difference between winning and losing the league. If it takes a couple extra million to buy that then so be it. Apparently your transfer policy is to only buy players that are cheap and we'll see if they turn out to be class for us? How much did we pay for Brown and Juarez?

Aye, he scored goals against Kilmarnock and Falkirk because 1), they were our opposition, and 2) nobody else seemed to be capable of doing it. He was by far our best player that season, and shone throughout the short time he was here. Exemplified by tonights performance, Keane is still clinical in front of goal, and can still do a job. I don't see why everyone's comparing Commons to Keane, why not have both? I know getting a settled team is important, and is important to Lenny, but experience is vital. Keane has been there, done that, and still has the ability to play at top level. And who cares if he kisses the badge, and says stuff like that. If he is good enough to play for Celtic, bring him in.

I think you may find that we didn't pay a penny, Desmond financed the deal from his own pocket. Not such a bad deal now was it?

We seem to be a little bitter with the use of the word orish, maybe you'd be better off with the manky mob down the road. Prejudice is welcomed there

providing hes not on insane money he could be a very good buy for us. If he was willing to drop to around 20k a week and sign for 4 years it could be very good business. Transfer fee would be out of desmonds own pocket as he is responsible for his last move here. Not liking stokes attitude as a big time charlie after one good season and keane would be ideal replacement. Keanes experience could be deadly for us in the champions league, and if we were able to do a double swoop with given, then the final piece of te jigsaw would be a defender. id say if we got keane we would get given or vice versa, Id say Given would want to move were he has friends. Could be a big window for us and these two would be vital.

Only if they were not on insane money, celtic is bigger than any player!

    Well said :50:

    Sounds promising

ROBBIE Keane last night refused to rule out a possible return to Celtic.

The Republic of Ireland striker has one year left on his contract with Tottenham but admits he doesn’t know whether he will stay at White hart Lane or move on after last season’s loan spell at West Ham.

That has alerted the Hoops who have also been strongly licked with the Irish captain’s international team-mate Shay Given.

Keane, age, left the door open to Celtic when he declared: “I really enjoyed my time there before. It’s a great club to play for and I have been fortunate to do that. I was welcomed there with open arms.

“But things are not in my hands. All I can say is that I enjoyed my time at Celtic but I can’t predict what will happen in the future.”

Keane will line up for the Irish against Scotland tonight in the Carling Nations Cup finale in Dublin.

I would take him back but will spurs loan him again? If he cost DD 1.5m a in half season we could get him for 3m a season in loN which ain't bad, though it wouldn't be out DD's. Pocket this time.

Persnally I would rather have a top class player like Keane who has proved he is more than capable in scoring plenty of goals in our country than someone who is cheap and untested and hope that they turn out well as stated in the above post. Hooper would relish playing along side a player of Keane's ability and learn so much. Keane managed to score plenty of goals for us during a time when we had no direction urder the shambollic term that was Tony Mowbray. We now have better players but lack good experience, Keane has that in abundance and will guarantee a return up front. If there is the slightest possibility of him coming back then this is someone we should try sign.
