It took something really positve like this to renew my faith in the club.........I had seriously begun to think that it would never happen.

I never believed this day would come, simply because I assumed Keano was like any other footballer. but he is not, he's a special guy and Celtic must be important to him. Even it's only a loan till the end of the season. I'd rather have * with the hottest woman on this planet one time than never.

    Keanoooooooooooooo Keanoooooooooooo

    Welcome home :shamrock:

Been here before with Bellamy. MON after his first year brought no decent players for many years and as the team looked like they were declining we tried to paper over the cracks by loaning Bellamy, a player a class above what we could afford. He did well but we lost the league and he was too expensive to keep in the summer. For me this is the board trying a desperate throw of the dice to paper over the cracks of our most disasterous season in a over a decade by dazzling the fans with a player whose mission will be over win or lose in three and a half months.

I dont buy it either. Pretty well all Irish people will say Celtic if they are asked for a list of clubs they like or what Scottish club they support but that is often a totally meaningless default thing in terms of the real level of knowledge or interest or number of games seen (even on TV) or effort to know much about us which is often non-existant. You do get large pockets of real fans in northern Ireland but rare elsewhere in Ireland and I laugh at the way the press describe every single Irish person as 'Celtic daft'. The perecentage of Irish people who really are 'Celtic daft' is tiny compared to Scottish people.

Robbie Keane is someone that spends his days off watching football and has often attended Celtic matches when possible. He's not a token supporter

Agree with what you say gunt, we are not guarenteed the league but it gives the place a lift. Even the younger players could benefit by watching his movement in training. The board have apparently asked about him in the past few windows. It would have been interesting to see what would have happened if he was here this time last year but let's see where we are in 3 and a half months. If we manage to catch Rangers, the gamble will have been worth it.:50:

Im absolutely ecstatic about this , probably the happiest ive been all season, but i cant help but know we're all putting so much pressure on him, Hes not going to score 30 goals from now till the end of the season, and he wont score a hat trick v the Huns and i doubt he will win us the league. Tbh I think we're all setting ourselves up for a big fall. Not being pessimistic or anything  i'm overjoyed but i'm not getting in over my head.

Actually that is a fair point. I thought Maloney completely changed his game through watching Bellamy and the next season when he was fit (WGS's first season 5 years ago) I could see a big influence on Maloney left behind. Am only trying to play captain sensible but I will be excited as everyone else to see all the new players tonight. Keane unlike Roy Keane still has a couple of years of peak time left, not enough time to justify a bank-bursting making it permanent in the summer but at least we are getting a few months of a top players now. Whether it really was worth it will depend on catching Rangers. I would not deny we have a better chance of doing it with a top striker. My main concern is the revolving door has been so extreme it is hard to imagine us settling quick enough to go on a mega run starting tonight.
