Wee Joe was one of the best strikers ever to pull on a Celtic jersey. An out and out goal machine, who wore his heart on his sleeve. I met him a good few time while in corporate boxes at Parkhead, and he was not only a gentleman, he was also Celtic to the core. * bless you Joe, it was an honour to have met you. R.I.P wee man

The funeral for Lisbon Lion, Joe McBride, will take place with a Requiem Mass at 9.30am this Wednesday, 18 July, at St Dominic’s Church in Kirriemuir Road, Bishopbriggs. :shamrock:

I would like to go but do you think it would be right, since I never knew him?

Have the family not said anything with regards as to who can attend and whether they want it to be just family and friends?

I dont know, just seen that on the Celtic website. I assumed it would be incase anyone wanted to go and I live within walking distance.

It doesnt seem right as I never knew him, only knew he lived near me as I seen him quite a lot but it wouldnt seem right not to go either since he was a Lisbon Lion and lived in my area.

Unless the family state only family and friends, which with Joe's status I don't think will happen I see no reason not to go along and pay your last respects.
