If I saw a fellow fan being attacked, I would Definaetely intervene. I would hope I would be helped out in a sticky situation. If this makes our fans thugs, so be it! Faithful through and through! Proud of our guys in the battle of the dam. Their supporters. Scum. Their police. Filth. Good on Celtic for their stance, especially Lenny and his comments. Also well done to former captain Lambert for his statement. I hope we never meet this scum again. Not through fear of violence but through the fear of our club being tarnished by these low down dirty rotting shitbag scum, from Amsterdam. This was all politics after their behaviour at Celtic Park.:38:

The club's statement about a "high degree of provocation" is watertight.
When the drink is in the wit is out. It does not take much to set off a chaotic sequence of events by tossing a few bottles like petrol on a bonfire, especially when it seems to have been pre-planned by Dutch hooligans, but there is something deeply sinister about how local police handled the visiting fans.
Why was there a need for undercover police to mingle among the travelling fans? How many of those involved in the trouble had leanings towards Ajax? How many had a penchant for unnecessary violence?
These are all issues that have to be addressed as much as the police victims left strewn across the city centre amid the carnage. Judge for yourself on the video. Police training in the art of appropriate force is tossed to the wind like the flying debris that apparently made its way into the saturated surroundings.
From this vantage point of a good day out turned rotten, I would suggest some of those Dutch police were not acting in self-defence, but were grown men looking for trouble behind a badge. In my opinion, grown men looking to inflict damage with needless acts of violence. A pub frequented by Celtic fans publicly apologised to the visitors for the treatment doled out to them.
Could you imagine the outrage there would be in this country if a policeman began laying into a football fan with such an assault? Could you image the furore there would be if a British officer encouraged a dog to take a chunk of a fan's knee while his colleague held him? It seems to me that police brutality has never been so obvious.
That Celtic's supporters should run into such chaotic scenes in the Netherlands says more about Ajax fans and the incompetence of the Amsterdam Police than it does Celtic's travelling support.
"This happens all the time with Ajax," an apologetic Dutch fan told me the other night.

The Scottish polis would have had no authority to do anything. All they are there for is to assist the Dutch polis in identifying any known troublemakers. They may report their findings when they get home, but there's no guarantee that the Scottish cops were allowed anywhere near the worst of the trouble, so they may not have seen it.

As for the plain clothes guys - disgraceful! They should only be putting hands on folk if they absolutely have to. Being so unprofessional as to get involved with scraps is a recipe for disaster in such a highly charged situation. How the * are the Scots fans to know who is who!? The plain clothes role is similar to that which the Scottish polis would have been doing - pass on info to the uniform guys.

My take on the whole sorry saga is that the fans were provoked, some of the police actions were despicable, and that they had every right to defend themselves... however, I have to be honest and say that some fans let themselves and the club down. Throwing bottles at passing trains and aiming fireworks into crowds of folks is not self-defence, and is not acceptable.

They were being aimed at the undercovers who all had just tried to get on the tram unsuccessfully,it might have went abit wild but bare in mind these guys had just seen fellow fans, pals, family being battered while restrained in front of there eyes and I find it totally understandable the reaction 100%..

And celtic fans were battered for fuckall I forgot to add, merely enjoying the atmosphere and a drink in the square was enough to be targets of bully boy police..

Nice to see that EUFA have done a U turn and now taking action against the banner as well.
We bit on stv about fans making complaints via social network websites and complaints coming in from the fans. Any ammo will do to get 1 over these manky *.

    Our voice wis heard!

A spokesman for Celtic said: "We have already been informed by UEFA's own security officer that he reported this matter together with photographic evidence.
"This is in addition to complaints submitted by Celtic supporters who are understandably deeply offended."

aye when I moved to America, I had at least one warrent out for me n I had previous n would have been stuck back in Greenock or bar L so I * off to America to start fresh insted of going back to jail. Well anyway, I decided to come back n chance it. Got to Glasgow, saw my sister waiting for me, started running up to hug her n got huckled lol turns out they only wanted me for an unpaid fine n my assault case I got released on at a tiesto concert never came up (I gave the coppers all my information, address, phone number .. But changed my first name while getting booked so I never got lifted for my previous warrent) well my maw kept calling me asking who George Goodwin was n that their was 2 coppers at the door asking lol

anyway, I just paid my fine on the spot (half my holiday money) n they searched me .. Even though I had just been through about 4 different airports getting there. They joked about one of them being my dahh n it kinda made me happy to be back in Scotland. Good old strathclyde harassment :50:

I'm not sure but for not serious crimes I'm sure it gets wiped out over a certain amount of years or just completely forgotten if left enough..

In your case it's different anyway this is your home as you have people etc here so killing yourself by not facing the music compared to a totally different city abroad..

Scotland is the only place In the world where the away fans in Europe are treated better than the home fans. That's a fact everywhere else they treat the home fans better

Just watched the STV news pictures of the dutch police battering that guy with kicks and punches to his stomach and any place its hurts, Is that what they call "restraining" I'm outraged that our own press are getting the boot into Celtic tho am not surprised. All because plain clothes police officers told fans to "stop singing" and they were afraid of public order ???? * if thats the case then NO sporting event should be held again in Amsterdam...if they cant let a few hundred fans have a drink and a sing song then they cant control anything....Were was the police the night before when you see a few hundred hooligans walking down a street.....Doh did any alarm bells not ring then ? - Pleased that the club, manager and i heard Paul Lambert make a great statement....and a message for the scottish press. Ajax are the ONLY club to have caused bother in years...this was planned, Celtic have won awards for our fans conduct...but dont let the facts get in the way of a Ramsdens cup mentality eh.
