I think we will sign two midfielders in the summer, with Hatate looking like he is heading out the door.

That Josh Brownhill possibly and another powerhouse CDM.

He is better imo which he show time after time getting off the bench after a lazy Hatate performance. I am confident hatate start to keep the price up as everyone know he will be off in the summer. And Bernardo have been injured for a long time to btw. Only competition was McCowan.

Bernardo isn’t close to Hatate. He might well end up a better player, but at this stage there’s no comparison. Hatate has been our best midfielder this season in my opinion.

Bernardo and Hatate aren’t really comparable to my mind, they’re complimentary partnership next to each other and not really competing for the same role.

I think for they two spaces it’s Bernardo vs Engels and McCowan competing against Hatate.

It can be mixed up and guys play different roles but natural styles, that’s how I think it is.

Might agree when Hatate play at his best but the problem is that he does that every 5th game. He reminds me of Samaras lol

He’s been pretty much on top form from at least end of January. I had it from after the Hun New Year game but end of Jan has had less pushback than this year when I’ve said this

I’m still not completely sure what type of player Bernardo is. Box to box I’d say is the closest I think.

Honestly I think it depends on how confident he is but first things first for him is a player that can follow what he’s been asked to do tactically. Look at him first coming into the team, mostly just the CL. He worked, pressed, made himself available for a pass and passed it to someone else no chances taken. Was there to be tidy and to work.

Then when we seen what I think comes more naturally to him, and it’s when he is confident it comes out, he drives forward, cutting passes, works like * and is forward thinking. When he’s not that confidence and flying in form, he’s tidy and risk averse and tries to just support others.

Honestly see his CL games, pretty much the only games he was playing first half of last season, I don’t think he had a forward pass until 3 games in.

Then he scored a goal when he got the chance in the league, and there was flair vision creativity style and a threat. And for 6/7 games he was curbstomping. Then it faded. And we’ve seen that from him a lot.

But when I’ve seen his game broke down analysed stat wise, he was near identical to O’Riley, with about half his end product. We need to coach him into consistency but this season everytime he’s got into form he got dropped
