We play with good and aggression generally but We are definitely way too nice as a team imo, one booking in the last two derbies is insane.

Mate I've said for a while we should be putting the foot through them

Would rather be a man down than have our players helping Huns up

UDINESE have scouted Reo Hatate as they weigh up a big-money summer swoop for the Celtic midfielder.

SunSport can reveal the Serie A side have sent officials to Hoops matches specifically to check on the Japanese ace

Clubs in France and Germany are also thought to be keen on the 27-year-old, who has three years to run on the extension he signed in September 2023.

It means Celtic would be able to demand top dollar if the Italians try to prise him away.

But Udinese’s interest is clear and it’s understood they had a scout in the stands for the Hoops’ lunchtime clash with Kilmarnock on April 12.

Hatate scored two goals that day as Brendan Rodgers’ men ran riot in a 5-1 win against the Ayrshire side.

He has starred for the Hoops since ex-boss Ange Postecoglou bought him for a bargain £1.4million from Kawasaki Frontale in December 2021.

As well as scoring 26 goals and bagging 28 assists in 140 appearances, he’s lifted four league titles, two League Cups — and he’ll pick up a third Scottish Cup if the Hoops beat Aberdeen in this month’s final.

Udinese are 12th in Serie A after a disappointing season under boss Kosta Runjaic and are looking to revamp their squad for next term.

Hatate has previously spoken about his dreams of playing in one of Europe’s top five leagues.

He said: “When I was in the J-League I thought it was impossible to play in the five major leagues.

"If there is a chance to, I’d like to play in various leagues to challenge myself

Just a perfect time to sell for me. We will get a good deal for him and we can replace him with a more aggresive beast of a midfielder which we scream out for. I love Hatate but he is to inconsistent and Bernardo is easily as good and has more potential.

The only thing that could make me change my mind is if Maeda and Hatate is close, and if a move affects Maeda's mind.

If the price is right move him on, he has been mr inconsistent the last 18 months, on his day he is brilliant but the problem is his consistency.

It is both the perfect time for Hatate and the Club, win-win for both of us. Hopefully he goes out on a high with the Treble, and we get that more aggressive beast of a midfielder, we so badly need.

I agree with you on Bernado by the way. Don't think it will affect Maeda either, he may go too.

I'd want him to stay and enjoy watching him play.

However, consider how stacked the midfield is, that we do need a more brute of a midfielder - it's likely one would ideally move on.
That's not going to be the captain, nor anyone just signed last last summer, which only leaves Hatate out of the 5 we utilise.

He's done us well, served us well, if we get £10m+ is be okay with it.
Though I think after his first season, had he became more consistent/injury free, we could have commanded £20m+

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has revealed that the club are gearing up to offer Reo Hatate a longer-term deal.

The Japanese midfielder has two years left on his current contract in Glasgow and is reportedly attracting interest from Serie A side Udinese, who are considering a big-money move in the summer.

Udinese scouts were in the stands on a scouting mission as Rodgers's side romped past Kilmarnock 5-1 back on April 12. Hatate would have impressed his would-be suitors as he netted a brace.

Rodgers fully expects clubs to form an orderly queue in an attempt to prize some of the club's assets away from the Scottish champions.

The 27-year-old is also believed to be on the radar of many clubs and has admirers in both France and Germany.

Hatate has scored 26 goals and notched 28 assists in his 140 appearances since joining from Kawasaki Frontale in December 2021. He cost Celtic just £1.4m.

He has won four league titles, two league cups and two Scottish Cups - with a potential third on the way later this month.

However, Rodgers admitted that Hatate is a player who CEO Michael Nicholson will have already pencilled in for a chat with alongside his representatives in the coming weeks.

The Irishman confessed that he has finally managed to get inside Hatate's head and that he is a player who possesses outstanding technical ability despite flying under the radar in terms of speculation and interest

Rodgers said: "I think for Reo, I can feel for him a little bit, especially in the first few years, there's been a little bit of inconsistency there.

"There's absolutely no doubt he's a big talent. He's a bit later in age now, even though he's 27, maybe some clubs think he's at the wrong end of the asset age, and they tend to go for younger players. But for me, he's an absolutely outstanding player.

"How he protects the ball, how he's prepared to play the risk pass. He's got goals, he can take the ball. I think the challenge for him has been sometimes in that really busy period when there are three games a week, and in that third game, there's a bit of tiredness that sets in.

"You see him now, especially when there's one game a week, he's so good. A really gifted player. It took me a wee while to get inside him and his mind and everything else, but he's absolutely superb. He's certainly not underestimated by us because he's been really, really good this year.

"I think the club will always sit down with the representatives, and I know we'll be doing that over the course of these coming months with all the players and the negotiations. I'm sure agents will be coming in to see him as well. But yes, Reo's a really gifted player and this is his fourth season here

Is it stacked? We only have 5 for 3 positions and probably 2 or 3 of them don't convince everyone.

I think he will go in the summer. He probably wanted away last season. Hopefully we get a good fee for him.

In realms of being able to give game time, I'd say so yeah.

If we was to add to the 5 without anyone leaving, then someone like McCowan or Bernardo suddenly gets next to zero game time.

For me, if we bring in a first pick CM, someone needs to head out the door.

Bernardo hasn’t been able to get in the team for a year, no way is he as good as Hatate.

Maybe you're right. Just feels like we're really light there when we get an injury or 2. It showed in the CL when Bernardo was injured
