Sports Direct Stadium is a really daft name. Guinness Park would be allright, though, but I would prefer avoiding a sponsored name.

We would still ultimately call it Celtic Park or Parkhead or whatever,

We already have 3 names for it anyway Celtic Park, Parkhead, Paradise so why not call it a 4th if we can get good money for it?

ideally i'd like to keep the 'celtic park' bit in it though I agree with people who say we'd still call it what we wanted to anyway.

Though if something like Guinness came along with millions, I wouldn't mind going to the 'Guinness Celtic Park' preferably one that serves Guinness as well :50:

On the other hand, do we just become even more of a corporate machine selling its soul if we did that?

    Interesting debate nonetheless :50:

I think this is an inevitable step in the commercialisation of the modern game and we should embrace something that every top club will eventually do. We are already hamstrung by the lack TV money, are we prepared to take another step back over a trivial thing like the stadium name?

I am still strugling with the following paradox. People don't like football becoming a big business (which I fully understand), yet they support a big professional club like Celtic (which has to be run as a business) and they often blame the board for not spending enough (and you need income before you can spend).

If you really are against modern football, should you not just support your local * football club? Or is there some way in between?

tbh, so long as it wasn't something daft like the Newcastle United one announced today, I could probably be convinced to go along with it. So long as the name was something sensible; i.e Guinness Celtic Park :icon_mrgreen:

Wouldn't bother me in the slightest.

I don't get precious about things such as names as long as the team on the park gets better.

You sure? What if a sponsor came along and said, howz about we change your name from Celtic to, say, " tampax Celtic", would you not be slightly miffed, not taking the * by the way, genuine question.:celt_2:

I think it depends on the name. I wouldn't want it to get some stupid name, but I'd be happy to get a sponsor to bring in more money. Besides, it'll always be Paradise!

In that case the GB would have to come with a banner like "No blood stained sponsor for Celtic Park!".
