Racist American's.

See the thing is, they are portrayed in the media as being ignorant, and no doubt for a large amount that is true, but the USA is huge, and its probably a small minority that make the rest look bad.

For example how many times do you cringe when the news interview some neddy Scottish person; aye there are a lot of folk like that but not everyone in Scotland is the same.


My flatmate is American and is one of the smartest, most PC person, he is full aware of world politics and has a very liberal view on such matters. Yet the blatant racism that he gets exposed to here, almost daily is unreal.

People make jokes about 'yanks' or sweeping generalisations, and its ok because they are a super power, the top dogs as it were. But if you said the same things about another country, you would be called out for it.

My flatmate is an easy going guy, but I have seen him hurt from similar comments to those made on here. He might be american ...but you know they are not all the same? Just like we are not all buckfast swilling, work shy, neds.

 

I never judged all of the US so don't get yer knickers in a twist.

Anyway on topic, this is completely * out of order, especially since nothing can be done about it in the US as you cannot be prosecuted for hate speech.

Had a GOOD look at it, can't say I am in the least surprised by it at all.

The racist comments are shocking IMO.....but would this be any different if ENGERLUND had been beaten (again) by Germany? We would be hearing/seeing similar types of comments.

Not that I agree with them, but there will be no repercutions for these posts (apart from maybe the downright racist ones).

 

I didn't assume anything what I actually said was:

I made an observation about how your post could be interpreted that is all.

We are always giving out about the poor quality of the media, to make a generalistion on an entire countries population based on a media perception is wrong imo.

I don't think the vast majority of Scots are drunk, skinflints just because that's the image potrayed in the media so why should I think the vast majority of Americans think they are better than others just because that's what the media potrays?

I think some people, and I'm not saying you in particular, but there are definately some people who are anti-American.

I'm not anti any country, religion, race etc personally, I know many Celtic fans or Scottish people for example who I * despise.

Aye nae bother Declan! I understand why you would get angry. The comments are disgraceful, and tbh a shame for the US womens team who I think showed a lot of dignity in defeat. Also well done to Japan, hopefully gives the nation a wee boost after the terrible time they have had.
