I think this would be a strong message but we'd lose our gate receipts.

The truth is, there would be no way of performing such a protest without some sort of backlash.

The question is, would it be worth it in the short term to drive a message home in a language that the likes of the SFA understand?

Given the stage at which Celtic enter these competitions what we are talking about is, assuming we qualify for the final of each, about 8 games (there is no certainty of this anyhow) & depending on the draw the gates could be only mediocre anyhow, think its worth serious consideration.

A season without Celtic in the 2 domestic Cups... can you imagine sponsors reactions etc, let alone the potential of global attention something like this could be generate.

Yes - for one season, I definately think it is worth it, especially when the £ that Celtic usually bring in for the SFA & other clubs in Cup comps is suddenly missing, then they will have a bottom line impact - I believe this would be more manageable for us than it would be for the SFA & Scottish Football in general.

The thing is, it would never happen with the current regime in charge.

It would be down to the fans to boycott the games. No tickets sold, no concession stand sales, no programme sales etc.

Thats the only language these * understand. Money.

Precisely my point. Our withdrawal from these tournaments would be a massive loss, both in terms of revenue as well as prestige to these competitions, for the SFA & Scottish Football.

The gate impact to Celtic would be manageable & especially if we qualify for the group stage of either European competition, even with mediocre financial results, the revenues Celtic could attract would still be comparable to what the LC & SC garner. Roughly speaking, it would be comperable to what this season's expected turn over would be, so it is unlikely we would be any worse off than we are this year. Of course, I'd like to have access to & produce actual figures to support this, but I'm confident it would still be within managable margins.

Couple with this the media exposure such an action would stir outwith of this country... can you imagine the uncomfortable situation the SFA would be forced into?

would you consider a boycott of scottish cupties

Apologies if there is already a thread on this. I like to think of myself as a liberal type of guy who would be the first to say no to any boycotts etc. I have followed " dougiegate" and " Dallasgate" with utter disbelief at times, Ive been on CQN keeping up to date and at 1 point I really thought we might, just might get a fair deal from the SFA as I genuinely thought that a few heads were about to roll. As time goes on ( and still no apology) it looks as if nothing will come of all this. In fact like many people I sense a recent hardening attitude towards Celtic in refereeing circles , the SFA and the Media. Have we reached a point where WE have to do something? By that I dont mean stupid banners that only invite the press to slaughter us even more. In an ideal world I would love Celtic to come out and boycott the Scottish cup but that aint gonna happen and I can understand the club not wanting to go down that road. Why dont the fans boycott it. Even if we made it all the way to the final!! Yes celtic would lose revenue but it would hurt other clubs who just might challenge the SFA and it would probably make the media in England sit up and take notice and start asking questions our own media are afraid to ask.
Please dont think I,m some sort of drama queen , I,m just so frustrated at what they are getting away with , and I now think they are closing ranks and mocking us now :54:

As I've previously posted in this thread, and as others have pointed out, the only way for a boycott to be completely effective is if it is total. The only way this is going to happen is if Celtic decided not to enter into either, or preferably BOTH Cup tournaments.
