Possible Scenarios

If the three of us all end up on 6pts wouldn't Ajax put us out on away goals h2h? And would we not have to beat Milan the same scoreline they beat us?

 

If we win tomorrow were basically guaranteed European football after Christmas. Ajax won't get anything against Barca at home or Milan away.

 

Not 100% on this but it must go straight down to who out the 3 has won the most games. Which would be us with 2 wins and 4 losses while Milan and Ajax would both have 1 win, 3 draws and 2 defeats.

You're wrong.. Did you not read the OP? We can qualify with 6 points.

 

It only goes down to h2h if there are 2 teams involved. If it's a 3 way draw, Barca are removed from the equation and it becomes a mini league between us, Milan and Ajax.

 

We want barca to win against ajax, it's very unlikely we'd get anything from the nou camp if barca need to win to get first in the group. If we play a reserve barca team in the last game then anything could happen.

 

I want Barca and Ajax to draw. The Milan Ajax game is a nailed on draw.

People are kidding themselves on if they think this team can get a result in the Nou Camp.

Why would you not want Barca to beat Ajax?

A cant see Milan and Ajax drawing that last game. No if we beat Milan tomorrow. If its about 70 minutes gone and those two are drawing they'll both go gung ho for the win to get 2nd place, one of them will surely score

 

Because I think we'll lose in Catalonia. So Barca drawing with Ajax is the only scenario where we have a chance of going through.

 

I never realised goals don't at all come into the equation if ourselves, Milan and Ajax all finish on 6 points. That surely clears the air on what is the best possible scenario for us from here then.

It all comes down to tonight's game against Milan though. Win that and take it from there.

 

I agree with this in theory except there's the chance that Barça will send out a youth team like last year against Benfica if they've clinched already. I think we could get a result, it's not as if the Nou Camp is a particularly hostile atmosphere either.

We definitely want a a draw in amsterdam, that is 100%.

Havent read every post but that means a sceanrio where us Milan and Ajax could finish on 6pts.

We have to beat Milan for this to happen.

A draw or loss in Amsterdam for AJAX tonight means we are GUARANTEED 3rd place if we win tonight. but if ajax lose tonight and then draw in the sansiro, Milan will pip us to 2nd plce on head to head.

if we all finish on 6pts , we go through in the 'mini league' rules set up, as results against barca are discarded for everyone. so we want Ajax to draw tonight as a draw in their final game sends us through to the last 16 whilst guaranteeing at least Europa league.

My head hurts...

We can count ourselevs fortunate on those rules if that happens. assuming we dont win by 3 against milan, they would both have abetter head to head against us but we would go through! Mental rules.

Lets just fking win tonight!!!!

I'm all for a bit of optimism but we are going to have to improve 10 fold on the Amsterdam performance to even have a sniff of getting something and I just can't see that happening. Weakened Barca side or not. Hope you are right though.

Although I can see the logic of the article in the OP, I'd much rather have Barca beat Ajax, putting themselbes out of sight in the group. Can see them playing a much weakened team against us in the final game. Even if they drew against Ajax, they're an extremely proud club, and they'd want to atone for the draw by blowing us out of the water in the last game. A win in Amsterdam massages their egos and gives us a much better chance of a draw at the Nou Camp.

 

It'll be * wonderful if we win and Ajax and Barca draw tonight.
