Something else? 2nd most succesful captain in our history, just behind Billy himself. Just captained us through a season where we've not just won the Treble, we were completely undefeated domestically.

I doubt any other captain will ever be able to claim the same again.

And then add in that he's probably the only guy in history to literally risk his life to be at Celtic as well.

It's rare that a player would gain this accolade while still playing for us, but I think that he is and will only cement that status further as time passes.

Not for me. For me a legend has to first and foremost be a great player. Broony isn't. He's a good player, an effective player, and a good captain. But he's not a great player, so doesn't make the legend cut as far as I'm concerned.

I'd go back to Tommy Burns in that example though, it's not the be all and end all.

But he was nowhere near a great player mate.

It's a No Brainer. Of course Broony is a Celtic legend. It dozen't just come down to playing ability. It comes down to stature, effectiveness, inspiration, example and integrity. Scott Brown personifies Celtic, and it don't get much better than that.

its not something you can really measure same as saying a player is world class. i think if you were to make a list of the 50 greatest celts he would be in there.

Technical ability is only one measure for me, viduka, di canio, bellamy, keane, van hooijdonk, van dijk, wanyama are all players who would match to most of our legends but weren't here long enough to really cement the status scott brown has

but then im sure in some peoples eyes van hooijdonk for example is a legend for scoring the winning goal in the scottish cup, peoples own perspective is important too.

So would he not be a legend then if he wasn't great?

I think Broony is a great player, just not necessarily with the ball at his feet.

On a strictly talent basis, as a player he isn't up there with the likes of Jinky, Lemon, Bertie & Bobby, Kenny, Danny, Henrik, McGrory etc etc.

However, as captain and leader of the club for such a successful period (including an unbeaten treble), he has enough "intangibles" for me to consider him a legend.

I was only 6 at the time so can't really remember if I'm honest. My main memory of that season is larssons Injury against lyon :(

The amount of goals he scored suggest he was a more than competent striker for us though, bit of a * but not that far off a goal a game?

I remember playing the fifa game for that year and him and larssons upfront being * lethal !
