We shall just have to wait and see what happens, but I wouldn't hold your breath, that's for sure.
The question that we have to ask ourselves (wether you want to join or not) is do they really need us? Do they want all the hassle and baggage that comes with Celtic or Rangers?

Why not help improve the league of our own country instead of jumping ship to another ? Scotland is improving as a footballing nation, debts are being wiped out and talented young players are coming through. Give it time.

We have got to think the long term success of the club and how things could pan out in the future.

    (1) The club is well run.
    (2) The club has a world class stadium.
    (3) We are stuck in a professional league that is in long term terminal decline and every year we are losing ground to rival International teams.
    (4) If we join the English league (IMO very unlikely) it will split our club in two.
    (5) The money men will one day form a European league, this is the league that we will join.

I am more than happy at winning league's mate. Better chance at european football and extra £££. This year imo has seen aberdeen, dundee utd and even motherwell progress into a stronger team than they have had previous years.
Also, when we sell our decent players, its usually for a decent profit to which we then try bring in a suitable replacement if not a better one. I dont know any decent players who would want to play for us in the lowest league in england.

Would rather see a stronger Scottish league than sell our soul and go down south- * that. Cheese cake.

If Scotland votes YES , then there is zero chance of a BPL.
A Euro league would suit us much better.

The 8th tier of English football? :97: I'd rather play in the top tier of a league that no one outside this country respects than throw away my own self-respect as well.

You can presume all you like, that will never happen. For us to be accepted straight into the Premier league they would have to deny promotion to Championship teams. Similarly, there would be a knock on effect regarding promotion in the league's below and that would take serious money, which England is not prepared to pay.

We ight deserve respect but that does not mean we can simply move to another country because we want ore money, take the place of an indigenous side and rob them of riches because they are smaller. IF we were to move to England we should have to start at the bottom. Not League 2 but in the conferences, several promotions from the Football League. As has been shown by Rangers, that can have a crippling effect on our finances and infrastructure, which could ultimately derail us from ever competing. If you don't believe me just look at the situation of that sleeping giant Leeds.

Personally, I'd prefer to keep winning the league we are in and selling players for serious profit. That's not exactly done Porto and Ajax much harm and in several years I don't see why we can't be as successful as they have been. The talk of a move to the EPL is a pipe dream for many and they would be wiser to accept where we are and think of ideas to move Scotland forward, as that is the only way our league and our country's football will improve.

    Exactly!

Some think we can start at the bottom of the English leagues then go on and win the champions league in a few seasons.

    Unbelievable!

    Its not * football manager.

I'd do it, even in the 8th tier we'd probably be the richest club outside the English Premier so would cruise up to League 2 easily then once there we could buy the best players, id imagine we could actually get successive promotions all the way up to the Championship then it would be tricky but you'd imagine we should be capable of buying a squad capable of getting into the Top 6 and atleast play-offs.

Might take 8-10 year but once we got into the EPL we'd be safe, what players wouldn't want to play infront of 60,000 of the best fans in the UK with arguably the best away support in the UK too.

With the proper resources, and a complete willingness to spend in order to achieve their goal, I truly believe Celtic would coast through the lower leagues of England until they reached the EPL.

Then ... give them a few years.

THEN ... an 80,000-seat re-development inside Celtic Park (which is more than feasible) makes sense.
How could we not, then, compete with the Chelsea's and Liverpool's and Manchester City's and Manchester United's of the world?

    It think it could happen.

Quite brazenly, in fact. Just like Celtic's current financial plan.

It would take English football by storm, and we'd be hated even more ... a Scottish club, the envy of England.

    I hope it happens.

We need to stop with this embarrassing pipe dream and start to look for ways of improving Scottish football.

We could start by allowing visiting teams to Celtic Park to keep the gate receipts of any tickets they sell.

It would be a nice wee earner for them and might encourage more of their fans to visit Paradise if they knew the money was going to their own club.

Nice gesture, and something I think should be looked at, but I truly don't think it'll make much of a difference in regards to the competitiveness of the league.

Couldn't clinch the treble in a * wee country we're too good for, apparently. Thinks we'll take the EPL by storm. :smiley-laughing002:

What has that got to do with anything?

    ... eventually, yes, I do.

I think a lot have said on here that many epl teams are the play thing of very rich Individuals correct ? What happens if half way throu our promotions, these rich people decide to dump their toys , the epl would go into meltdown and the money on offer would disappear, what happens to us then ? Or what if they decide hmm lets set up a different league ie European while we are stuck in the lower league's in england.

A very good idea , although Pete would probably wanna increase the cost of tea and pie's to offset it a bit.:smiley-laughing002:

Seriously a good idea and simple as well :50:
