Stilian Petrov looks set to become Martin O'Neill's first signing as manager of Aston Villa when the Northern Irishman is, as expected, named as their new boss this week.

The Bulgarian international shared a good relationship with O'Neill when he managed Celtic and helped the player grow to become the quality player he is today.

Now O'Neill and Petrov will be hoping to re-unite in time for the start of the new Premiership season.

But Celtic will be holding out for £6-7 million for Petrov - money they hope can finance deals for a much needed striker and left back.

Also heading south is winger Ross Wallace.

The 21-year-old will train with Birmingham City this week after being given permission to find a new club.

Well Hubert my friend i also have yet to read a report. I was listening to a BBC Radio Scotland commentry of the game, hardly the most unbias of sources at the best of times.

By the way if you care to read my initial post again regarding the Rangers squad you will see that nowhere in that post do i say that YOU mention the words 'bigger' or 'quantity'. These were adjectives i used to express my own observations that the new management team at Rangers may be making a mistake in adding so many new players to their squad as quickly as they are doing, and in the process substituting quantity for quality. It doesnt matter, I disagree!
I was not impressed by the big dark haired Swede, they have, who knows maybe he was better today.
I will watch them during the week.
My feelings at the moment are we can be a better squad only and when we sort out a few things, most of us agree on, ie. a left back, and one more central defender, and I would add a good backup goalie.

A slight contradiction there Hubert, it obviously does matter to you, you just took the time to disagree. Oh and "the big dark haired Swede" wasnt better today.....he was mince.:34:
