CELTIC manager Neil Lennon has handed a trial to Peter Luccin - the French yob who sickeningly SPAT at his old Parkhead pal John Hartson.

SunSport can reveal the former Celta Vigo midfielder, 31, jetted into Glasgow on Sunday night for a week's training at Lennoxtown.
And the free agent - released by Real Zaragoza - could have a chance of playing in Celtic's Emirates Cup games with Lyon and Arsenal this weekend.
Luccin featured in both UEFA Cup third-round games against the Hoops, when Martin O'Neill's men went all the way to the 2003 final in Seville.
But it was his conduct in the decisive home leg - which the Hoops lost 2-1 as they went through on away goals - that left him despised by Hartson, his Bhoys team-mates and the travelling supporters.
Celtic boss Lennon also played in the game when Luccin was caught on camera gobbing on Hartson as tempers flared during the tie at Balaidos on December 12, 2002.
But the former Bordeaux, Marseille and Paris St Germain midfield enforcer amazingly escaped punishment at the time as Danish referee Claus Larsen and his assistants missed the ugly incident.
He was later handed a four-game ban by UEFA.
Lennon will not have forgotten Luccin's reaction on the night.
But it's clear he's still prepared to give the controversial star a chance to prove himself for the Hoops and sources in Spain say he is in Scotland for a week and could play at the Emirates.
Luccin - who left Celta Vigo in 2004 for a three-year spell at Atletico Madrid - has a record of being one of the most booked players in Spanish football.

Must be looking for him to play CB surley? We have enough midfielders now. I always say you can't have enough quality and depth but we need to try and give everyone some game time to keep them happy. We don't want too many players in one area.

Hartson once kicked a player in the face....and he signed for Celtic.

Lennon knows exactly what he's doing

I was rather hoping he didn't. That would at least have been an excuse.

Scumbags like Luccin have no place at Celtic Park. :38:

Atletico was much more his kind of club.

A FORMER Celta Vigo star who copped a four-game ban for gobbing on Celtic striker John Hartson is on a two-week trial at Parkhead.

Frenchman Peter Luccin checked in at Lennoxtown yesterday to train with Neil Lennon's new-look side and it is hoped he will pull on a green and white shirt this weekend, playing as a trialist at the Emirates Tournament in London.

Free agent Luccin, who has picked up a reputation for being a hatchet man in La Liga, flew into Glasgow on Sunday night accompanied by Spanish agent Jose Mesas after accepting an invitation to team up with Lennon's squad.

But the 31-year-old also faces a battle to win over the fans who were disgusted by his filthy at tack on Hartson during Celtic's tumultuous run to the UEFA Cup Final of 2003.

Luccin was caught on camera spitting at the Welshman's face during a bad-tempered tie at the Balaidos Stadium in December 2002 as Hartson's crucial away goal kept Martin O'Neill's men on the road to Seville.

Hartson said recently: "Celta Vigo had a player called Peter Luccin who once spat on me. UEFA threw the book at him, hit him with a European ban and a massive fine.

    Source.

Why are we taking this guy on trial, he would be better playing for the darkside of Glasgow.
