If we sign either of these 2 guys I'll * myself, There's just no-way we could afford 10mill on one player, unless we sell McGeady or Boruc.

Bent was maybe a good shout as a loan, but he will want to stay in EPL (imo) & MoN is apparantly after him.

Pavelchenko will follow the money & go to a richer club, as did Vukojevic.

    Sad but true.

Apparantly Pavelchenko & Bysrov are best buddies, we're (supposedly) in for both.

I'd love to take them both, I think they'll settle quicker in a new country/culture with a mate.

We did it before with Magic & Artur, all be it at a bargin basement level compared to these 2!

Bystrov is a flying machine, something tells me him and Hiddink don't see eye to eye though which can only be good for a prospective buyer at these championships!

i think if we sell JVOH for 3-5 million then buy pavyluchenko for 7 miion then that should be sufficient, and i think it was bent OR pavyluchenko we were in for, not both. AND your point about pavyluchenko doing the same as vukojevic, he didn't choose the money, he chose the only offer on the table. I believe celtic's main problem is being too slow when a player says he would like to join us. IF we are quick enough and put in a firm bid that they can't turn down and speak to him straight away then i am sure pavyluchenko will join us :icon_mrgreen:

    CHELSEA, Eye on Pavlyuchenko
    19.06.2008 14.53 by Redazione TMW read 307
Is a striker that is so appreciated by several teams, and above all after the good performances shown in Euro Cup, will provoke an auction. Roman Pavlyuchenko (26) of Spartak Moscow, is so appreciated by Barcelona and Celtic Glasgow, but now seems that even Chelsea have asked information about him. In any way the suitors list could increase.

I'd love this guy cause it sets the tone for what the club's aim for the future is. I'm hoping with all the funny money flying around and all the big name exits, especially in La Liga that he's missed by the big boys. Reckon the Chelski link may be just cause of the owner, and if Barca are making wholesale changes i hope, hope mind, that they try to show off to the fans with big, big names. But, it still means probable competition from the premiership also-rans, who are always after a striker or two, so bring in Villa, Newcastle, Spurs, Everton etc etc. All these jammy buggers get a fortune for the TV rights so they can effectively push the guys price closer to the ten million mark where we have no chance, regardless of how ambitious we are.

But as a lot of people have said, he's been properly in the shop window so it makes it harder for us to compete. Could possible be the highest profile signing we've had for ages, as well as he most expensive ever, so we'll see. Like i said it'd be great, make all the other players raise their games. Personally though i think the £8m mark should be our max. Doesn't matter if we could technically afford it now, we realistically have around ten to twelve million to spend total. Much more than that and we risk our long term stability that we've worked so hard to get. Would rather gradually build up good players and sensible money moves, not splurge it all. We'll leave that to the Dark Side.

Wave goodbye to Pavlyuchenko... scoring in Euro08 is a great way to put players out of our reach. =/
