    * article makes "losing out" on Lafferty sound as if we've been pipped at the post to sign * Kaka! You could have shoved an athletic gibbon into the Burnley team and it would have had more of a niche for goal.

    Frankly, i am ecstatic that Satan's Sons (Huns) have "pipped" us - now we can turn our attention to players of a sufficient quality to grace CP, while the Dark Side continue to purchase players of average-at-best ability.

    pavlyuchenko - brilliant ! would love to see him come to celtic as for darren bent he is a dud , overated not proved his worth in the premiership could he do it in glasgow ? i dont think so :86:.

    He did score 18 goals in the Prem in his first season with Charlton, no way he's worth £18M though, that transfer fee has just made him look like a flop since going to Spurs.

    saw darren bent about 14 months ago

    was at a england under 21's vs germany under 21's

    england unders had a really good sqaud out playing ashton,bent,hunt etc etc

    but bent is rapid and is good in the air considering his size and to be honest he is better than anything we currently have in the striking department

    wages would be a stumbling block and deffo not worth more than 8m

    Whether we actually do sign these guys or not, what it does is show the gulf in ambition between us and the "Sons of Mordor".

    Roman Pavlyuchenko, Darren Bent, Matteo Brighi, all top class performers, the 1st 2 are probably 10 Millions worth.

    Where exactly do Kenny Miller (Celtic reject) Andreus Velicka (Hearts reject) and Kyle Lafferty (*) stand up against these fellas. Nowhere near them thats where, in fact shouldnt even be mentioned in the same breath !!

    Bent is not a dud - he was a superb at Charlton. Quick, strong and a deadly finisher. He was always going to struggle at Spurs with Berbatov and Robbie Keane in there. The price tag didn't aid his cause either.

    As for Pavlychenko, he is an absolute class act. Seen him on a few occassions and been very impressed. If we were to make 1 major (£6m+) signing this summer, then he'd be my pick but I fear there may be others sniffing around for his signature.

    The 27 year-old Russia international is rated in the £8 million class by Spartak and regarded highly by new Barca coach Pep Guardiola. Real Madrid also have been following Pavlyuchenko over the last 12 months.

    we need to free up Gravesen and Balde's wages first, which will be hard work (it'll be like trying to sell a dead cow to the milkmen).

    would take them in this order...
    Pavlyuchenko
    Bent
    Klasnic
    Frei

    would take two, if i'm being greedy. if we do that then we would take one of the top two and one from the bottom as theres no way we could afford Pavlyuchenko and Bent.

    these are the calibre of players we should be looking at...not Boatang. those four wouldn't be Killen signings (ie squad fillers), thats for sure.

    Rangers, you can keep Lafferty, we've got bigger fish to fry.

    bent signed for spurs for what 18 million so if you could get him at a knockdown price brilliant . I have faith in wgs that hes looking and hopefully got people lined up to come in

    It was always hopeful at best - however, in these times of disappointment, let's not forget who Miller and Lafferty play for....

    Barca and Real are linked with everyone. Barca are always linked with Coppa America players, but 1 out of 12 a year materialise. Real have been linked with S.Fletcher for how long? have they made a move yet? personally, i don't believe either la liga giants are after him. they always look for established players in Europe (eg Beckham, Figo, Henry etc)
