we never left since the CL game in Glasgow ;)
And personally im dreaming of getting Celtic again this year. The best away game possible.
as for your conversation both sides have some valid points. Its true that if you take history, achievements and popularity factor then its only Spartak in Russia and possibly Dynamo Kiev (former USSR, now Ukraine) that can be compared to Celtic. But its also true that top 4-5 russian clubs would no doubts also be at the top in the SPL together with Celtic, and Rangers would have been fighting for the place in the Intertoto Cup :)
And it is also true that Celtic and the SPL are not very well rated as career options by russian players due to two obvious reasons: lack of competition in the SPL and the financial factor. you may not like it, but that the way it is.
i suggest you stop arguing and better drink a shot to Russia to win tonite, both my russian and scottish friends. :)

You must remember though, that if the Russian teams were to play in SPL, they would also be limited to the same financial restrictions as Celtic and Rangers. I reckon one of you might pip the huns to second, but that would be it :)

thats more than obvious mate. If Celtic were to play in one of the the African leagues they would be stuggling to reach half time without someone fainting :)))
what im saying is that the russian premire is a stronger league football-wise than the SPL and on AVERAGE - a russian team is probably stronger than a scottish team, which is of course due to higher competition, more money and the size of the country. and im not talking Celtic now :))

Guys its football - anything can happen on a given day.

The fact is that we have the biggest support in the world. If we were playing in the Priemership or La Liga, we would be the biggest club in the world. We play in the SPL and have to make do with what wev got.

are you sure mate? i thought united would be the best "supported" team? especially with all their fans in the far east.

agree with your other points though, being in the SPL holds us back, to an extent, as a club but as you rightly say thats the hand we've been dealt, thats life:50:

can spartak qualify for the CL this year?

celtic is straight through this year to the group stage so we cant meet in qualifiers.

Yeah - I reckon if you did a poll, we would come out the biggest - especially now with our Japanese fan base. Our base in the US is massive (as is Ireland, Australia, Germany etc)
