    Gone, baby Gone.

Chelski or I'll eat my hair!

Asharin was totally unplayable last night, best player of the tourney for me - destroyed Rangers too, so Top Man!

Pavlyuchenko isn't out of our league, we just need to act fast. We have the money to get him.

Bent and Pavlyuchenko are both out of our League. There is a reason we are trying to get Mcfadden. We could Prob get him at a snip compared to these 2. But even at the that I dont think we will go back in for him.

Personally for me Klasnic would be a better option for us. He is on a free and the only team seriously taking to him is Wigan. FFS surely we can beat them to a signing.

Theres talk of Chelski for Pav, as soon as Abramovich gets talking to him we will be right out the window, anyway after last nights performance his value would have soared.

Apparantly Wigan have cooled interest in Klasnic, with Nantes now fave to sign him....

Fecking *, Nante are pure pish - recently promoted - nothing compared to us.

Surely we can put in a better package than Nantes & I hope we can do another one over a newly promoted club as we did to WBA with McCourt.

Pavelchenko is now totally beyond Celtic being able to sign him, unless I'm seriously mistaken. I'd love to get Klasnic & punt JVoH to put funds towards Pavelchenko, but just can't see it to be honest:rolleyes:.

every era of Celtic FC we get a new problem that is fixed, then a new one replaces it.

during MO'Ns period it was that we waited till the last day of a players contract to renew it. which meant players walked away for nothing a la L.Miller.

    we fixed it.

however, during WGS period in office, its that we know of a player for a long time, yet we act too late.

we have known about this guy for at least a year now, since he hit the back of our net twice in the CL qualifyers. yet we do nothing. he goes on to shout 'i am a great player' against England by scoring against them twice. we all knew that he is a great player. then he goes to the Euro's and plays out of his socks. his valuation will be higher now than a loaf of bread in Zimbabwe and will have scouts a plenty watching his every move.

    we should of moved earlier!

    No mate not just you.

I think money was the main factor for the guys you mention (shevchenko aside)as years ago the eastern European players were on peanuts in there home nations.

When they got a dream move, then the money and all that comes along with it IMO had an effect (turned there heads). Basically they downed tools once they made it in the game, ambition was achieved.

Now though they get paid fortunes, especially in Russia and the Ukraine. I think there would be a better chance of players being successful now as the money aspect is no longer as important as it once was.

BTW Clagan I’ve missed reading your posts mate good to see you back.:50:

maybe sometimes theres a lot of trying behiond the scenes and it just looks as if they waited too long when they dont sign but by the time it hits the papers it could be old news

Just read this morning that Real Madrid are now interested in Pav. Its in the article about Arshavin wanting to go to Spain rather than England. Even if this is wide of the mark, as much as i love the guy and think he'd be incredible, when was the last time a player was linked to Chelsea, Real, Barca etc and we swooped in and took him? Yea, bollocks!

Like it was said earlier, we missed the boat on this one. Maybe we tried already, but had we signed him last summer or January, first we would've benefited from his ability, but we'd be sitting on a friggin goldmine. Its a shame.

One thing though, would this guy get played at the biggest clubs. I know he's good, but enough to nudge out The Horse at Real or Adebayor or Villa at Barca or The Drog at Chelsea. Lot of these teams play with one striker, is he the answer? I'm not sure either way, i imagine he'd improve at these clubs but i don't know if he's that kind of good, i.e. best player in the world type good. If that's the case and the guy wants to play, maybe these aren't the best clubs. Probably just fantasy thinking though, like he'd turn down 80k a week at Real to get regular games for Everton or something.

Hello, my dear friends.I'm a Spartak Moscow fan, thats why I know Pavlyuchenko well.In my opinion,he isn't a great striker.Yes,he scores a lot, but he scores something about 3 of 10 his moments (it is not a good parameter), you can see it at Euro 2008.
I think, that Pavel Pogrebniak (Zenit St.Petersburg) is much better for Celtic. He is more young, he is more strongly. I remember, when Pavel started his career in Spartak's Football Academy, he was an artful player.
So, Celtic is a great club, and Pavlyuchenko is not worthy to play here.

P.S. Sorry for my english. & Pav will stay at Spartak, "Pavlyuchenko goes to Barcelona, Pavlyuchenko goes to Chelsea" it sounds like a joke :icon_mrgreen:

    Welcome to the site:50:

Last summer Celtic were linked with Mozart but the move never happened. At the time reports said that he only had a year left on his contract.Does this mean he is out of contract now or did he sign a new contract during last season? What do you think of him as a player and how much do you think he would cost?

I agree with you that Pogrebniak is much better than Pav and since he was injured and didn't participate in the Euros he might be a slightly more realistic striker for us. All people have really seen of him is with Zenit in the UEFA cup. I would love to get him, however not sure whether he is at all affordable.

As for Pavyluchenko, I wouldn't say he isn't good per se, but he still has some growing up to do to reach his full potential. He deserves all the attention he is receiving in my opinion.
