Silly question, McStay by a mile.
-
For those who watched us in the 80's and early 90's, when did McStay peak? Seems to me around the Centenary Year? Who would he be capable of playing for today?
I first saw him in 95 under Tommy Burns but he was a bit of a spent force by then, could still see his qualities though. -
Lambert was superb but have to say McStay.
But if the question included the three Paul's.. I'd have to say Paul Telfer -

McStay was certainly the better player but Lambert's CV is superior as he won the Champions League with Dortmund while The Maestro ignored offers from abroad, he was probably too dedicated to Celtic and it hampered his career. McStay winning the Double in 88 is matched by Lambert stopping the 10 a decade later. -

His peak was probably 1982-1992. Best years probably 1982-1986. -
Paul McStay by a mile.
Lambo was a terrific player too, but for me there is no comparison. -
Didn't see McStay at his best, but I'd still have to put him ahead of Lambert in talent terms. Maestro is a Celtic legend.
Lambert was a great captain for us and part of a quality side. -

McStay for me. -
Lambert, the Champions League winner.
-
Didn't see Paul McStay unfortunately. But I've seen about 3 players at Celtic who can be considered close to world class (plus the obvious one who was world class) and Lambert was one of them. Quality player.

i voted paul.

Lambert was an amazing player but in his pomp, The Maestro was on another level entirely.
