had played a 1st team game this lad has this lad scored 43 goals on loan in polish 2nd division that’s more exciting than youth level. He had only scored one goal out on loan

Bit different though with Eddy initially coming in on loan. Plus, he was the top scorer and voted the best player at the U17 World Cup in 2015 when France won it.

    He was definitely more exciting.

CELTIC are in advanced talks to sign Polish striker Patryk Klimala.

The Hoops have agreed a transfer fee of £3.5million with Jagiellonia Białystok for the 21-year-old and are set to finalise a deal in the coming days.

The Poland Under-21 ace will jet into Glasgow this week to undergo a medical before potentially becoming Neil Lennon’s first signing of the January window.

Now that a deal looks close, we’ve gathered everything you could possibly need to know about the Celts target.

The Poland Under-21 ace will jet into Glasgow this week to undergo a medical before potentially becoming Neil Lennon’s first signing of the January window.

Now that a deal looks close, we’ve gathered everything you could possibly need to know about the Celts target.

    Who is Patryk Klimala?
Klimala was born in Swidnica in Poland.

The 21-year-old has just recently broken onto the scene in his homeland after banging in seven goals in 17 appearances this season.

He has been tipped by ex-Hoops star Maciej Zurawski to become the next Robert Lewandowski.

Zurawski said: “He is lightning fast, which you need to be as a top striker, and he is strong on the ball. He is the one player everybody is talking about in Poland.

“I think most people expect him to be the striker who replaces Lewandowski in the national team.

“That won’t happen just now, because Lewandowski is still one of the best players in the world. It will be very hard for him to start for Poland at the moment.

But there is no reason why he won’t in the future if he keeps improving at the rate he is just now.”

Klimala has also revealed he is a huge fan of MMA and admits taking up the combat sport has helped to improve his fitness.

He added: “I do mixed martial arts on my own. I’ve always liked to fight and now I can use it for the benefit of my own development.”

    Who has he played for?
Klimala kicked off his career at Legia Warsaw but failed to break into the first team.

He then moved to Lechia Dzierżoniów where he netted one goal in seven games.

After his loan stint he joined current club Jagiellonia Białystok where he’s scored 11 goals in 50 games.

He also spent time on loan at Wigry Suwalki where he scored 13 goals in 28 games.

    Has he played for Poland?
He hasn’t broken into the Poland national team yet with a certain Mr Lewandowski leading the line.

Klimala has represented his country at u19, u20 and u21 level, however.

What kind of striker is he?
Klimala can play up front or out wide.

His main attribute is pace and he loves to get in behind the opposition defence.

This means the Polish ace could add something different to the Hoops front line.

    What are his weaknesses?
The youngster has been urged to work on his finishing.

According to former Hoops ace Zurawski, Klimala will have three or four chances a game but will only score one.

He added: “He still has a lot to learn, although you would expect that for such a young player.

“He needs to work more on his finishing. His conversion rate needs to get better. He will have three or four chances most games, but only score one goal.

“This is not a big problem for now because I remember going through the same thing myself when I started, but it does need to get better.”

Think we need to bring in a seasoned ST too, got the feeling it will take a while for this boy to settle.

Quite excited by this. The last young polish striker Genoa were after was Piatek and I don’t think any of us would have turned him down given what we know now.

Not overly excited about this signing if I’m honest. We need a proven goal scorer at a higher level and Sporar ticks that box. Settling for 2nd best here in my opinion.

I agree, but my worry is this boy has said wherever he goes he wants guaranteed to play. If hes signed, have we promised him that? If so I cant see a seasoned striker coming in

Big Boruc can give him directions to Bridgeton, and he can do a bit of damage there.
