Patrick Roberts!

Discussion in 'Ex Players' started by AJ Styles, Jan 24, 2016.

  1. it took alot to get that result, we were up against with injuries and such. particularly proud of the younger lads Tierney, O Connell but Paddy was just breathtaking. Such an important match, wonderful human beings.

  2. just remembered the ref was being a * aswell:47:

How many of those players will actually be in his long term plans though? Wouldn't be surprised at all if Navas, Nasri and Silva are sold off in the next 1-2 years.

Not 100% sure, despite his obvious talents, if Roberts will become a first team player for them but I don't think it's the current bunch that are going to keep him out the team in the coming years.

It will be signings that Guardiola makes down the track that'll hurt his chances. Navas has been useless, Sterling as of yet has done nothing of note at City, Silva/Nasri are getting on and might not even suit the high paced pressing game he plays.

  4. His best performance to date we are watching a genuis such a joy to watch would honestly be delighted if we could tie him down i don't think city will want him although he command a decent transfer fee if we did get him
He could potentially be a 20m player if he keeps on progressing IMO it's worth splashing 9 million for him the now

He was a 12 million player after less than a year at Fulham.

He's potentially a 50 million quid player, particularly as he's English and will be attractive to the English market.

  6. We ain't got £9m?.....

Absolute class. In terms of beating his player, Roberts v Astana is one of the best performances ive seen in a Celtic shirt in years.

  7. If he continues to play, and we reach the CL, then there's a chance of holding onto him, perhaps just as another year of a loan deal. Teams like City need first team stars and even Roberts wouldn't been seen as that just yet. So, being hopeful, we might be seen as a good environment to help him develop until he really is nearing his potential.

The downside is, Pep is pretty famous for promoting youth to the first team ranks, and Roberts ticks the bill in that he's got skill, technique and creativity. Where other Prem managers may baulk at his slight build, Pep ain't gonna give two * if he rates the rest of him.

So we kinda need him to play great, but not too great :)

There is ZERO chance us holding onto him after this season on a perm, as said, cost 12m when he was at Fulham and now he is a first team starter in Europe putting in awesome performances he would command a fee well beyond that and we simply cant afford it. I also think City will want to loan him to a prem team next year. Our only hope is that 2-3 years down the line things don't work out and we get him on the cheap to build him back up then sell him on

  10. Any idea when hes contracted to with city. Another possibility is he does not get game time down there we offer him a deal, dont kniw hiw much hes enjoying it up here though

  11. They paid 12m for him, you can see why, in a few years once he and his game matures he will be a first team player no doubt, the only way they would sell to us on the cheap is if he regresses badly!

  13. Know what was class today as well with the wee man. The respect that Barca showed him with sometimes 4 player's running to surround him on tbe ball, and his lack of respect for our opponents and the name..

    Superb player..

  14. We need to kidnap him at the end of the season. He sure is gonna be some player in a few years.

  17. Always looking for the ball. Hopefully he gets some protection on Wed night.

  18. Should just enjoy watching this wee magician whilst we have him.

Marvelous wee player, and I wish him a successful future at Man City when he goes back.

  19. I'm back you'll all be delighted to hear. :icon_mrgreen:

Been away in London for a week, met Ellie Goulding btw on a by chance meeting at Harvey Nichols, she's some stuff.

Anyway, managed to watch both games and on both occasions all I can say is this guy is top, top class.

I think we should be coming up with a chant already, for me he's a genius, I would go with the Lubo, Lubo, Lubo! Chant except obviously replace Lubo with Paddy. Any chance this could catch on?

Paddy, Paddy, Paddy! Whilst of course doing the bow.
