Sensational player, wish we could manage to get him permanently.

I'll greet when he goes :54:

No even that, he'll end up loving it here but City will take him back, won't play him and end up selling him to Bournemouth or some other * for £15m.

    That's the sad reality.

We should do everything we can to keep Roberts at the club as long as possible. He's brilliant to watch and seems to be improving every game. Loved the desire last night, obviously desperate to make that position his and to get on in the game. He's the type of player I wish we could develop.

When he leaves here, if he isn't to get first team action at man city, he should push to come back here for a year or to be loaned out to France or something.

His career will likely stall and fizzle out if he ends up dotting around some no mark English clubs.

The best place for him to develop is here where he'll play every game. The English don't see it that way though.

That wee full back never attempted one single tackle on him after his booking. Shows you how dangerous players of his ability can be, even if it was against part timers. Players don't want to risk it.

PATRICK Roberts insisted he was simply pleased to play his part in securing Celtic’s passage to the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round after his dazzling display helped the Hoops dispatch Lincoln Red Imps 3-0 in Paradise.
The talented teenager’s wing wizardry terrorised the Gibraltarian team as Brendan Rodgers’ side poured forward from the first whistle in their quest to overturn their one-goal deficit from the first-leg.
Roberts, who didn’t feature in the away match, was involved in the first two goals for the hosts, before scoring a superb solo goal to effectively seal the tie before the half-hour mark.
He said: “It was very good. I enjoyed that very much. I love playing football and have done so since I was a kid. When I get out there I do what I do best, and when I get on the ball I try to do something special or keep it simple, but always doing my best for the team and trying to get the win.
“I want to play in the Champions League which has always been my dream. I respect the manager and he has to do what he can for Celtic. I will always be there and wanting to play, but it’s a team game and you have to do what is best for the team, so I’m happy with the result tonight.
“The manager has a lot of players and he has to choose a team so I’m already ready and waiting and I can only do what I can do.
“I have loved playing out there (Celtic Park) since coming here, so whenever I get the chance out there I will do my best. I have always believed in my ability and have always wanted to play at the highest level and will give 100 per cent to do that.”
Celtic impressed in the opening 45 minutes in front of a bumper home crowd, and Roberts is adamant that there is still a lot more to come from the Scottish champions under the new manager.
“We were disappointed last week but we put that behind us and we put on a good performance out there,” he said. “It’s only a few weeks in but there is still a lot of time to improve. We are together and are continuing in the qualifiers to kick on at the start of the season.
“It was incredible out there from the start, with the league flag being unfurled and the fans cheering and singing You’ll Never Walk Alone. It was something special and hopefully we can get through to the group stages.”
The Hoops will now go head-to-head with FC Astana for a place in the play-offs, with the first-leg scheduled for next Wednesday in Kazakhstan.
It will be a demanding journey for the players, and they will come up against a team who competed in the group stages of the Champions League 12 months ago, but Roberts said he and his team-mates won’t be fazed by the challenge.
“We lost 1-0 and we had to come here and make it better and I think we did that and put in a good performance and hopefully we can do that again in Kazakhstan,” he said.
“You have to travel all over Europe but you have to get used to that and it puts you in good stead so we will overcome that and go out there and put in a good performance.”

Reminds me of when we had Bellamy on loan. You know he will end up back in England at some shower of * when he could be a hero playing for us but unfortunately money talks.

He's a level above everyone else we have, thought first half last night he was something else, just a shame the massive hole he will leave behind this time next year will never be filled

 * me, you're like a broken record. Every post seems to be a dig at the board or really negative. Is there anything you like about Celtic?

This is the kind of player I was hoping James Forrest would become, sadly it wasn't to be.

Better. Just need to lose the sarcastic undertones.

How do they treat us badly at Celtic Park though? They couldn't have done much more to make the matchday experience better, apart from sort out the * pa system, doesn't work at all now in 444.

collusion with focus to get young boys from the GB arrested for Sectarian breach of the peace and such like makes them scum bags in my eyes but since you're a positive sort of guy, they are good law abiding citizens trying to clear our support of Bigots and Racists

    * * Paddy, let's wait and see how he does against some comparable competition, eh?

If he stands out in the same way during a Champions League run then I'll entertain statements like that.

I liken him to Arjen Robben, always hugging the ball with his left and looking to cut inside to get a shot away.

    I was hoping this too.
Still, Roberts runs with his head up looking where he is going, always a good sign of confidence in a player, Forrest never does this, mind you he dozen't have any neck so would be hard for him to do anyway :smiley-laughing002:

Comparisons with Messi are premature and hyperbole, but he does possess tricky feet and pace, maybe an upgraded verison of Paddy McCourt is nearer the mark.

Just seen the highlights for the Imps game (the goals, anyway), and his was a blinder! Was he like that all game? Seen he got the assist for Griffiths too. Hopefully that's his position in the squad solidified.
