Still trying to think of another player I can compare him to in terms of his dribbling ability and drive.

Only one I can think of is a young Messi.

I agree he was doing more of it tonight. Which is why it was one of his best performances to date. I'm not sure if his level dropped in the second half because the rest of the team dropped or if our overall performance dropped because Roberts dropped. He was that influential in the first half.

Different level I totally agree with you there.

He's got that pure, doesn't-need-to-think-about-it, natural touch on the ball and you can tell by his body movements that he's just got it.

A few of us have said a number of times, he genuinely does move like messi. He's got a very similar running style and a few of his finishes... Chipped goal v hearts(?)last season and his cutting in finishes have been straight from the messi dvd...he's clearly a big fan.

What level do i think he can reach??

He seems to have the attributes to be top-top class player. Right now he's all potential but if he keeps his head and focuses on being the best...then easily full English international, top 4/5 premiership

As i watched him in the first half i was thinking exactly the same thing.

Not saying he's gonna be as good lol, but it's really exciting to watch.

Agree with that. It would make him a threat to go past the full-back on either side instead of cutting inside most of the time. That unpredictability would make him almost unplayable.

I would like to think it was just job done in the second half mate. No need to use up too much energy early in the season.

    Lustig just scored. :smiley-laughing002: :party048:

A joy to watch, the boy is a huge talent. With Roberts you've got to accept from time to time he'll loose the ball and I don't mind it at all because when he does run defenders ragged it's great.

In terms of where he can go in the game, I'm not sure. When you look at a guys currently in and around the England set up like Walcott, Lallana, Chamberlain and Townsend I'd have every confidence in him being better than any of them in the future.

He'll be a big player for us in these European qualifiers as probably against anyone we play he will be by far the best footballer on the park and be capable of slaughtering them. Hopefully steps up and does the business.

We should be looking to sign his replacement in Jan as he's going to take huge quality with him when he departs..

Need to enjoy him whilst here's there..

He had the bit between his teeth in the first half hour, was absolutely brilliant to watch.

Can't remember being that excited seeing someone get the ball out wide since we had DiCanio. McGeady in flashes but that's it.

Turned round to my brother at half time and said I guarantee Guardiola has him in the team next Season. Nowhere near the finished article but the guy is phenomenally talented and has a cracking attitude to boot.

I've mentioned him mixing it up a touch more.... But Messi-esque, it's alright knowing where he's going but he's so quick footed and his low centre of gravity, almost makes it impossible for (most) defender's to stop anyway..
