Rodgers knows his quality pre-season for a new manager is looking at the fringe players
If he played a pre-season game and did his ACL that's 9 months gone and we'd be in a far worse position

How do people know that playing him on the left will nullify his attacking capabilities? Most left footed players play on the left and do just fine. If anything I'd suggest playing him on the right virtually guarantees he'll cut in, which top European defenders will then use to nullify him. On the left he could push for the byline and cross or alter his body position and shoot. Or am i somehow mistaken by that? :97:

I'd argue the best wingers in the world all play on the "opposite side".

Ronaldo plays on the left. Messi plays on the right, albeit he freely roams. Neymar plays on the left. Bale plays on the right. Hazard plays on the left. Reus plays on the left. Robben plays on the right. Ribery plays on the left.

Every one of them base their game around cutting in on their strongest foot and getting goals/assists.

Roberts is a right winger and always has been. He's done a fantastic job their with us so far, changing his position would be * madness.

I agree but Christie is left footed as well and it looks like he's going to be starting LW tomorrow by all accounts.

He got 7 goals in 14 games last season playing in that position.

The real question is, why do folk want to play him somewhere else?

I would have a front 3 of Dembele, Roberts and Griffiths.. Dembele stays in the center, Griff and Roberts play fluidly interchanging on the right and left. Makes it harder on the defence as they can't get into the flow of being up against one certain player and caters to both the players needs.

Can't afford to leave either Griff or Roberts out of the side.

There is no danger of Roberts and Griff being left out the side. Absolutely, positively no danger whatsoever. Chill.

Only issue is positioning, like others have mentioned but we will sort it out so that we have Dembele, Paddy and Griff in there.

Imagine that with Rogic, Hendo and Allan in the centre feeding them passes...:35::party048:

Sounds ideal actually. Roberts should have that right hand slot hunkered down now.
Thank * no more missing in action Forrest.
We look like having a great team this year backed with a great manager.
    We should go places.

Replace Hendo with Bitton in that CM and you'd have a team winning 4/5-0 every week domestically more or less.

    ------Allan------Bitton------Rogic-------

    ----Griffiths----Dembele----Roberts-----

With Roberts and Griffiths interchanging with each other. That's a team worth every penny to watch.

I thought about Bitton and if he can get back to his best then great but I'd deffo have Hendo waiting in the wings if he starts disappearing again.
Really, Hendo should be on the bench and getting regular game time from now on, imo. He's earned the right to challenge for a place in the XI.

Hopefully. Agreed on Forrest too. I hope we can't get him moved on. I like him when he's at it but he's way too inconsistent and his attitude doesn't seem to be improving either. Maybe a fresh start would do him good.

Disagree. Would rather have Henderson now than Bitton. Bitton has a bad habit of fading out of games, especially when the going gets tough, you don't get that with 100% Hendo.
Did you see that cross Hendo made for Stokes in the Scottish Cup Final ?.
You would never see Bitton doing that.

A midfield 3 of Allan, Bitton and Rogic is mental. Zero steel in it whatsoever. Need someone in there to be able to outmuscle opponents and get stuck in.

    It'll never happen anyway.

That's because Bitton is much more of a goal threat inside the box during set pieces and would be a waste to see him delivering them. I'm pretty sure he could whip in in a decent set piece if given the chance though. Also I'm sorry mate but both on top of their game Bitton would be in that MF every time.

I don't want to take this thread off topic anymore because it is meant to be about Patrick Roberts, but I would rather have the grafter Liam Henderson who never disappears in a game, to the lackadasical Bitton who has a tendency to hide in some games, most noticeably the Scottish Cup Semi Final.

And the other existing problem is Bitton is seldom top of his game.
