There is zero chance of keeping him past this year if he is to go back out on loan it will be to another EPL side either that or they will keep as EPL sides have a quota of English players required in there squad

I'm not sure, he's obviously loving his time here already.

Let's just enjoy him while he's here. No doubt if there's any chance of him getting into City's squad and then first team he will want that; but you never know.
They could decide he's not ready when I think we all agree he is well good enough for a place in their squad to challenge for a place; but with the ridiculous money they have to be able to pretty much buy whoever they want, they might overlook him unfairly, it happens all the time. If that situation does happen that would be a good chance for us to get him signed permanently but right now he will (quite rightly) have his eye on challenging for a place at City.
Of course, I'd love it if we could sign him and hope that happens, events permitting. :celt_2::shamrock:

I like Roberts but I'm doubtful he's the type of player we need when we have to scrap in a game. I don't think he will be first choice for Rodgers every week. Just my opinion

If we had the right players for that formation we wouldnt have been playing players out of position armstrong on the left etc.this is a formation that requires 2 really good wingers on eatch wing with only roberts being any good, and he was signed in dielas last few month.for me anyway we just didnt suit that formation.if brendan wants to play that formation then fair enough.b ut we have been playing 433 in al our friendlies so far which is rodgers prefered formation.

This is why Scotland is a back water.

The day Patrick Roberts isn't good enough for us is the day I chuck watching football.

By the same token I'm guessing Messi isn't the type of player we need either? What a crock of *.

Aye, drop a player who loves scoring against Hearts and Aberdeen.

That's what you would think mate but sadly Deila never bought many players suitable for his formation, evidenced by constantly playing commons and Armstrong as wingers.

    3-5-2 Domestically would be ideal...

Not only does it utilise our many midfielders, with 3 CBs it makes us more of a threat from set-pieces..

We've got so many players who could have a free role too..

Couldn't agree more , makes my blood boil when I see stuff like that, really holds our game back. Scotland have had many players with "bite" and "grit", where the * has that got us.

Far from not being in the team we should actually build our team around him.

Who needs technique when you have a bit of 'dig' eh? :56:

Totally true. I wonder how many skilful players haven't made the grade because of the * style of football traditionally favoured in Scotland.

Anyone think he could play LW effectively instead of RW of a 4-3-3? It would mean however he's going to be cutting onto his weaker right foot, got to be the best option we have for there still anyway I'd say over a Henderson or Armstrong for example.

If Brendan sees Griffiths as the RW atm of a 4-3-3 with Dembele centre then I don't see where else Roberts fit in?

    * me I cant believe theres even a debate on whether Roberts should be in our team or not, the guys * magic and we have no one like him in our team. I don't have a clue what formation Rodgers is gonna play though out the season all I know is that Roberts should be among the first names on that team sheet.

He can I think but he isn't as a good a player, not atm anyway Roberts more skillful and clinical.

My argument is though it's looking like atm Roberts might not even be making our first team. I thought he was a shoe in all season when fit on that RW of a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 but it would appear maybe not. We need to give him first team fitba first in order for him to want to stay here. I don't think he'll be happy and settling for the bench here when he could have got that at City. I realise it's still pre season and a friendly but that team yesterday I'd say is looking more likely for Lincoln Imps.

Roberts should be starting at right wing every game, provided he is fit. How the other players fit in around him...* knows. But he's a class act.

I couldn't agree more with that, it's just if Roberts plays RW of a 4-3-3 where does Griffiths play when you'd assume Dembele will be Centre?

Yeah its a tough one to fit a pair of left footers in a 4-3-3, being honest I'm hoping Rodgers goes for a 442 domestic and it turns into a 424 like his Liverpool days and then we wont have to worry about that. However if it is 433 I'm sure we could go with putting Griff or Roberts either side and get them to swap over every 10-15 min. It makes it much harder for defenders to mark and gives both players the chance to cut in.
