No point discussing this atm, let him enjoy his season here and let us enjoy watching him in the Hoops. I know for sure he's the player I'm most excited about watching this season and one of the big reasons why I got a ST. Whenever he gets the ball something happens and you can't pay enough to watch that type of player.

Too many variables for the future, Pep may love him when he sees him and makes him a Man City starter, just don't know.

But lets just enjoy him while he's here but I'l say one thing he won't be slaughtering the league like Denayer did after his time here, you can tell Roberts really appreciates what he's got here and is loving every minute of being here and has so much respect for the club and the fans.

Plus he now has a bromance with KT as has been confirmed by Summer on twitter :icon_mrgreen:

There is no chance of him staying here, if he continues doing well Man City will be selling him for much more than they bought him for if they choose to move him on.

I'm just going to enjoy watching him for the year we have him. He's had his settling in period and now he's ready to go for a year.

IF he does leave Man City, we have a chance to show him this is the best place for him. We can point to the likes of Wanyama, Forster and Van Dijk of examples of how we can help players take the next step.

He could easily get a move to a Southampton or a club like that in the EPL after City if he wanted to, so he wouldn't be moving back here to get to a Crystal Palace or whatever further down the line. If he came back here it would only be for coming back because he wants to play here for a good chunk of his career imo. Which is always a slight possibility depending on how much he catches the Celtic bug, once you catch that it's sometimes hard to shake off for a player.

Really looking forward to seeing him in Brendan's team this season.

When you think about it 18 months isn't bad for a player of his quality on basically a free transfer.

Hope he does catch the Celtic bug and asks to extend his loan for another year.

If things go according to plan he could get at least 12 European games this season and that's experience he couldn't get on loan down south.

Glad to see that he really is fitting in to the squad dynamics and getting along with the others. No doubt he feels 100% part of this club and knows what is expected of him.

Think he will leave here with only great things to say about the club, and down the line like Brendan has hinted, you never know how a career may turn out and he could come back here. Obviously if he hits the heights of being a £30m player then we aint ever going to see him again - not till he is 33 at least. But he could develop in to a great player for us, but just not hit the heights of being a first team player for an EPL title pushing club and see himself better off here in the long term.

    Ifs, buts and maybes.

Just glad to see he is enjoying his time here and bonding well with the others.

plenty still to learn and develop though.

A bit concerned Brendans going to not be able to fit Roberts and Rogic in the same team together. Surely Roberts has got a place in our first team against Lincoln Imps next week?

Dont think it will really matter what team we pick.

    Bailly
    Fisher Ambrose O'Connell Izaguirre
    Ajer
    Allan Henderson
    Forrest Ciftci Armstrong

    That team would beat them.

I agree, however I still feel we should be playing our best players in the team every week. And I view Rogic and Roberts amongst our best players.

What makes you think he won't fit those 2 in a team together

    Gordon
    Janko, Sviatchenko, Ajer, tierney
    Broonie, Bitton
    Roberts, rogic, griffiths/dembele
    Dembele/griffiths

Doesn't seem too difficult to me? And that took 2 minutes to throw together...

Edit: for the record, I know it's going to happen, but I just couldn't bring myself to name Ambrose in any teamany team i select...

Just thought the team and formation against Olijmpia will be similar to next weeks against Lincoln Imps.
Yeah a 4-2-3-1, think Brendans considering 4-3-3 though. Just need to wait and see I suppose, Maribor game should be interesting lineup and formation wise as I think that will more or less be the team for next week.

As good as we Paddy is I cant see him being in City's squad anytime soon, Pep is going to spend a fortune not only this year but next as well so there will be no short of competition for places and I'm afraid he will most likely be down the pecking order, I would stick in another cheeky loan bid for him or even a transfer bid after his currnt loan what's the harm? they can only say no.

Trying to pick any formation other than 4231 fels like hammering a square peg into a round hole because of the players we have in our squad after Ronny's time here. I think Rodgers will rectify this with time/transfers but for the momenthe'll play that formation, only with better tactical awareness and understanding. At least I hope so anyway...

Edit: or naybe a 352? That seems very aggressive for europe though, so maybe in spl only...

Agreed. Especially if we secure CL games until Christmas or better. If we got through, or another 2 or 4 games in the EL i think a loan would be on again. After that loan a permanent move would be distinctly possible

Rogic could quite easily play in a bank of three as the most attacking of the midfielders.

I'm not sure Rogic has the legs for that. Although tbh it's a bit of an unknown. We've not tested it.

I think he can look like he's blowing out his * when he isn't.

Roberts clearly has aspirations to play for the national team and as we've seen before, this rarely happens for a Celtic player.

Our best chance of keeping Paddy is on loan for another year possibly two, IF we are competitive enough in Europe and we don't choose to scout or blood a player of our own in his position.

Sadly there would need to be a radical change on how competitive our league is viewed down south to convince players they can achieve International selection.

The dreamer can always hope the lad falls madly in love with the club ala Larsson, becomes a hero and we pay him as best we can. Bringing Rodgers in is a positive sign to all concerned that we are a BIG draw.
