I'd go along with this. I don't really rate Sterling.

    100%.

Sterling is stealing a wage at City.

If Sterling came through at us, we'd be absolutely salivating over him. He'd be the best player in Scotland by a mile. I see huge potential in Roberts, but that doesn't detract from Sterling at all.

Let's be honest Sterling only looked good coz he had Suarez and Sturridge alongside him playing at the peak of there game
He's done very little in international football and will probably be one of the guys Pep ships out in the summer for a considerable loss

Sterling is a good player, but he's just supremely overrated..

Roberts is better than him technically as Sterling is very poor infront of goal or at crossing. Drags most shot's wide and very poor with the instep..

Doesn't mean Sterling isn't better than Roberts just now, because he clearly is. Roberts has more potential though, although we have to remember Sterling is still young himself..

Sterling actually can tear great players apart when on his game, get free in the box but then 99.99 out of 100 times he will somehow hit the corner flag with his 3 yard out shot.

Hope someone explains to him that the Huns will try and injure him next week, and he will be targeted for every decision. And then he rips them a new one when they try

    * sake :smiley-laughing002: I hate the guy but Sterling is electric on his day. He only turned 21 in January there's some players who haven't even made their debut at that age. He scored a hat trick earlier this season and has 12 in total.

For me the difference between them is Sterling will use his pace and trickery to get past players but would lay it off for a easy goal for someone else. Roberts isn't as quick but will still use tricks as well but does it subtlety in a way that the defender is already behind him without even giving them a chance and I'd be far more confident with Roberts taking a shot from what I've seen. Both great players but Roberts for me is or will be the better overall player.

I think people are mixing up more technically gifted and better here. Two entirely seperate things.

    from Today's DR

Patrick Roberts has told Manchester City he doesn’t want his Celtic loan spell cut short.

The 19-year-old winger, gearing up for the biggest game of his career in tomorrow’s Old Firm derby, has a deal with the Hoops until the end of next season.

However, there has been speculation that incoming City boss Pep Guardiola , who replaces Manuel Pellegrini this summer, would look to recall the youngster.

Roberts said: “I have to do what is best for me. I felt 18 months is good as you get the opportunity to qualify for the Champions League and the chances to win leagues and cups.

“That’s what you want to be doing, playing at the highest level in the world – especially as a kid. It’s much better than sitting around.

“I’m here for 18 months and what Guardiola does will be for himself and City. My decision to come here was a good one as this is a club with massive expectations. It’s been a great experience and I want it to continue.”

Roberts can’t wait for the Scottish Cup semi-final against Gers tomorrow and added: “I can feel the buzz and expectations already.

“I want to do my best as I know it’s not nice to lose a game when the city is divided.

“So I will do my best to get a win for the Celtic fans. It’s definitely the biggest game in my career so far.”

This youngfla can do damage tomorrow. Big time. I have a wee doubt that the occasion could get to him but I honestly think we will tear them apart instead of going into hiding.

So do I. Not seen anything so far that was suggest we will hide. Didn't at Motherwell last week when they went after him. ( Besides CKR will look after him.)

Expected massive things today he was utter *. Beat a few guys but just ran into a player instead of passing nearly every time. Players show who's good and who isn't in big games and the wee man has a lot of making up to do, if he scored that we'd have went through.

end of the day he put in a decent shift until his legs went. He only's just turned 19, he joined here in January and had only played 20 odd games for fulham before hand... now that's a lot of pressure for the young man especially when you expect guys like Brown and Biton to step up and take that sort of pressure off the younger guys but they did * all!
