He has the opportunity to make himself a very big name by performing on Sunday. Not just with the Celtic support, who will love him forever, but the whole of the UK and beyond will be watching.

A couple of you said he's "more technically gifted" than Sterling and Boyd Crowder said "£50 million for that fud Sterling and they send Roberts out on loan"

    Nonsense.

Marc Crosas is a far more technically gifted player than Scott Brown, doesn't mean he's a better player.

Wingers live and die by their "technical ability"

Roberts isn't more "technically gifted" than Sterling. For people who think he is, what makes Sterling the better winger then?

Boyd Crowder seems to think City should have saved their £50m on Sterling and played Roberts. Maybe he's right, but two or three good performances from Roberts against SPL sides doesn't make him better than Sterling.

I'm not even a fan of Sterling either.

Mostly his movement, directness and pace. Where Sterling falls down is end product, his control, his shooting and his crossing. Good prospect and currently a far better option than Roberts but £50m was insane.

I disagree about the live and die by there technical ability as well, few can match Queresma's technique. Doesn't mean he's one of the best.

I've seen Sterling play plenty of times and I could count on one hand the number of times I've seen him play well. He's fast. Canny cross and canny shoot.

Now I know Roberts has only played a few games but I can't remember the last time I saw a player go past others with such ease. I watch EPL games every weekend and not even then do I see it. Obviously he's not world class or anything but he has incredible ability.

You're not telling me Sterling is twice the player of Roberts, never mind 4 times (which is what their price tags say).

Sterling has a sprinters pace which is a dangerous weapon in a continually more athletic focussed League.

Patrick Roberts has better footwork, a better cross and a better shot. Sterling's shooting, in particular, is utterly laughable for a 50 million quid player. It is akin to James Forrest's, pulls it every time.

Can/t compare. One plays is in a much higher standard league having played many high level matches.
One is coming of age and is currently playing in a substandard league.

    Of course you can compare.

Was it impossible to compare Henrik Larsson with any English Premiership striker during his time here? He played in a substandard League the majority of his career. It was still clear to see he was as good as anything in the EPL.

He proved himself in the Championship. Not exactly a high level league either.

I'm not being like a premier league supporter not giving any of our players credit. I'm simply saying that it's ridiculous to suggest Roberts is better/more technically gifted than £50m Raheem Sterling who plays for a team on the verge of a CL semi-final.

I do really like the look of Roberts and think he'll be successful, but it's very very early for the OTT praise.

I'll stick my neck out and say that I think Roberts will be a much better player than Sterling in the future.

I'm basing that on about 4 or 5 games I've seen Roberts in but I am happy enough to say that going by what I've seen from both of them. Right now Sterling is more proven and has shown more at a higher level but I think Roberts can surpass him in a couple of years.
