If he doesn't get in at City, another PL club will come in for him and he'll go and try prove the Pep he was good enough.

Would rather we tried to sign him permanently because after he has another good season with us and potentially champions league football, he would be out with our reach price wise.

If we got him for around 8 or 10 million we could then easily sell him for more than that.

PR: "It was a good three points for us. We started strong and scored three good goals."

PR: "It was a tough battle and we defended well. In the end we got the three points which is all that matters."

PR: "The way Aberdeen played was very direct but we showed our defensive capabilities tonight."

PR: "We know what we can do and coming here is always tough. But we came here and scored three goals so we'll take that into the final."

PATRICK Roberts believes Celtic are fearless when it comes to their pursuit of the club’s first domestic treble in 16 years.

An unshakeable belief among the squad has become a trademark of the Hoops' historic season, which now stands at 44 domestic games unbeaten following Friday night's resounding 3-1 victory against Aberdeen at Pittodrie.

The six-in-a-row champions were relentless in their pursuit of three points against the Dons, scoring all three goals inside the opening 11 minutes of the game.

Dedryck Boyata, Stuart Armstrong and Leigh Griffiths all hit the target for the Celts, while Jonny Hayes’ reply was all but a consolation for the hosts.

The impressive win against Aberdeen took the Hoops to a staggering 99 goals for the season and a Premiership points tally of 100.

Roberts said: “It was a good three points for us. We started strong and got three good goals. It was a tough battle, we defended well and in the end we got the three points, which is all that matters.

“We knew we were going to start strong, and after the third goal we thought it was going to be a good night.

"Obviously Aberdeen got their goal and they’re a top team. They’re second in the table, they put up a good fight and they definitely tested us, but we did well.

“The way Aberdeen played was very direct. They played to their strengths, but it was a good win for us. We showed our defensive capabilities.

“We know what we can do. Going there is always tough but we scored three goals, so we’ll take that into the cup final.”

Celtic will take on Partick Thistle and Hearts in the final two league games of the campaign, before facing the Dons once more in the Scottish Cup final on May 27.

Brendan Rodgers’ men have emerged victorious in all five meetings between the two sides this season and one final win against the Pittodrie outfit would secure Celtic a clean sweep of domestic honours for the first time since 2001.

Roberts said: “The main thing for us is to keep mentally strong and focused on the games. The cup final will come but we just need to focus on the two games before that.

“The manager reminds us that teams want to beat us and they’re waiting on us to slip up. For us, it’s all about staying mentally focused and prepared. We’ll keep going into games as we have all season and hopefully we get the results.

“We’ve been resilient and strong this year and the cup final will arrive. We’ll go into it confident and positive and as well-prepared as possible - that’s all we can do.

He added: “Nothing fazes us. We just want to play the best football that we can and make progress, and that’s part of the beauty of this squad - we just want to get better in every game.”

The kid is just ridiculous and he'll only get better.

For such a scrawny wee guy, the way he holds on to the ball is crazy, never mind the skill he possesses.

I think one more year on loan is the best we can hope for, hopefully EPL ignorancd is our gain.

Lets face it, he is * at defending so he needs to be in a top team who dominate possession.

It's either us or City. If he doesn't play for either of us and is sold to some * team, lets say Stoke. I can see his career going to *.

He's a quality player but the premier league is all about not losing, so they mostly set up defensive, which would mean Roberts would only be used as an impact player.

I hope Brendan has explained that to him and if he hasn't I know you read the forum Brendan so get him told.

Think sinclair will have had a word with him about exactly that and what it can do to your career and love for the game.
The kid has got it all, not often I sing the praises of an English player, as 9 times out of 10 they are over hyped to * and they reckon they are world beaters. But paddy roberts is truly a great talent. He has a messi-esque ability to beat 3 players by running through them, and keep the ball. He can create that half yard of space and has a good shot on him. Now he of course is not of the same level as messi - yet - but his style is clearly similar and england as a whole dont have someone with that level of natural ability and skill on a wing.

If he doesn't make it at city, and another of the big 4/6 don't rate him, the lad will be best served going abroad and not settling for mid table battles, where hopefully the wise words of Sinclair will explain the bad impact that will have on you.

Apparently we approached Man City about another loan deal. City would rather he goes on loan to the diddy Championship.

Disappointing outcome for all in my opinion. European experience surely would be of greater value to his development.

City won't want an improved Roberts up against them in the CL next season which no doubt will happen when we get drawn against them in the group stages

PATRICK Roberts said last night that the chance to make history at Celtic this season was just too good to pass up. The 20-year-old Londoner declined a place with the England Under-20 side for the World Cup in South Korea to see out the season on-loan in Scotland as the Parkhead club chase the first invincible season since 1899 and only the fourth treble in the club's history but he said last night that he had no regrets about the decision.

“It was a massive decision between Celtic and England," said Roberts. "But the best decision happened and I'm more than happy to play in the cup final and I can't wait for it."

The likes of Kilmarnock goalkeeper Freddie Woodman, Everton striker Dominic Calvert Lewin and Celtic target Dominic Solanke are part of the travelling party for the tournament which begins on May 20 but Roberts feels that playing in the Scottish Cup final on May 27 would be more beneficial.

“I think people in England can understand the circumstances," said Roberts. "To make history at this club, not many players get to do that. I think they understand. I have my reasons and they have got a big enough squad and a strong enough squad to go and win it anyway. So all the best to them."

While they were three goals down within the first 11 minutes in the face of the usual early Celtic onslaught, Roberts conceded that Aberdeen's direct style of play featuring target man Jayden Stockley in the remainder of Friday night's match presented Craig Gordon with as much difficulty as any team in Scotland has all season. Whether the match gives either side a psychological boost going into the William Hill Scottish Cup final on May 27 remains to be seen. “We knew we were going to start strong and after the third goal went in, we thought it would be good night," said Roberts. "But obviously top team that they are, second in the table, they put up a good fight. They tested us and we did well and we defended well.

"The way they played was more direct and they played to the big man and the target man," he added. "They obviously played to their strengths there and they did well. They're a top side and coming here is always a tough game so to come here and score three goals and come away 3-1 is good. To show our capabilities in defence is massive.

“But I think the cup final just happens on the day. We'll turn up and we'll be positive and confident and best prepared as possible. We'll go into it strong and that's all we can do. We came here, scored three goals, won the game and now we're going into the cup final the same as ever. The main thing for us is to keep mentally strong and focussed on the games and when the final comes we'll get to it. We'll just worry about the next two games we've got coming."

Roberts should have a say in where he wants to go to. I think he would pick us over the championship, especially after the season the club and he has had.

As I have mentioned countless times before, we should be trying to get him permanently as I can't see him getting a chance at City. He is talented enough but they just have that spending mentality and want to see instant impact from players, rather than allowing them to develop.

The Championship is where good footballers go to die.

Two of the most effective types of players in that league: burly strikers eg. Daryl Murphy, Chris Martin and Glenn Murray.

And energetic runners in midfield: Johansen, Kayal, Bradley Johnson, Henri Lansbury.

Take a guess what type of football is played.

I'd absolutely love it if we could keep him, I just love the *! He's one of them players, who will only get better and better, the goals/assists he's got this season, will only increase as time goes on IMO (If we can sign him).

But, he was never our player to start with, I have to keep telling myself that! I'm sure BR will make enquiries, and if there's even a 5% chance of it happening, we should do anything possible, ultimately, it's out of our hands really.

I hope he has a * Pre-Season for City, misses sitters and hits Kompany for suggesting he and Tierny have a Bromance going on, causing a huge rift, and we'll take advantage.
