A fantastic player for us and I would love to see him to sign permanently.

Anything around the £6-8 million mark then I would say yes but if we are talking nearer £12 million I think it may be a step too far.

 

He's done nothing but enhance his reputation in his time up here so I can't see City letting him go for less than they paid for him - unless Guardiola doesn't want him of course.

Reckon he will go back as planned in the Summer and we will probably see him move come January to another premiership side.

 

Seany is right in afraid. Only thing that could maybe push it through would be a first option buy back clause. He seems like a pro player to me though so probably no chance.

 

Suprised he choose the final over going to World Cup with u20s. If I was in his shoes I'm not sure I choose that option. Shows how much this club can get a hold of you...

 

Guardiola needs and wants more English players in his squad, that added to his value means there's probably only a 10% chance that Roberts will be at Celtic next year.

Considering worse English players than him have gone for 20 million+ down the years, I think Roberts would command an astronomical fee.

Wonder what Roberts is actually thinking, for me he wont get near a game for City and I dont think hed get a game for any EPL team either he's just not physically developed enough but he could be thinking he is a quality player and be wanting to go on loan to an EPL team and trying to get into the England World Cup Squad next summer.

 

I think there are tons of mid to lower table clubs in the EPL who would absolutely take a shot on him given his ability, despite him not being robust or physical. I think he compensates well for that fact anyway, he always has good positioning and draws a lot of fouls because of that. Now I know the fullbacks he’d be up against would be of a higher standard than in Scotland but I believe his qualities would translate well in the right environment in England.

 

But those wee * mobs are only ever 2/3 games from disaster and a young loan player like Roberts would be the first scapegoat for the manager to drop, especially as he's not the cleverest defensively. Also they tend to do more defending than attacking so Roberts will barely get a sniff of the ball most games, Sinclair should warn him that he'll end up wasting a season if he doesnt either come back here on loan or go to the English Championship.

 

You may be right, but I think those are necessary growing pains for the boy. Right now he's playing from a place of sheer dominance at age 20, both individually and in club terms. For me I think Paddy has a higher ceiling to his game than Sinclair ever did, so learning to play on the counter for a team like Stoke or Hull could add new dimensions to his game and make him more well-rounded for the next chapter of his career.

With all that said, I hope NONE of that comes true and he comes and plays for us of course.

 

It's not really that big a surprise. What looks better on your CV, getting to the quarter finals of the u20s world cup (that, let's face it, no one really cares about) or a domestic treble, and possibly undefeated to boot, in a professional league?

I can just see Paddy when he goes down for pre season saying "right you losers, here's my medals, let's see what you won last season..."
