    I must respectfully disagree.

He WAS a 12M player. Thats what mC paid for him. As per Forrest "keeping him out of the team" I must also disagree. Forrest kept no one out of the team. Rodgers was looking to build a team with permanence, its no coincidence that once forrest reverted back to his usual running at defences with his head down that he had no choice to go with the superior player.

As to my quoting him being worth 30M now... absolutely. In todays over inflated EPL madhouse he definitely worth that.

His exploits against MC in the CL alone will have raised his profile considerably in the EPL.

A cursory look at any MC fan forum will tell you that they are busting for him to be given a chance.

In todays transfer market, £12m for a young, English superbly talented footballer is almost unheard of. He is definitely worth £12m or more.

The question is, is he worth £12m to us?

Forrest kept him out of the team based on form, he was playing better than him and was following the teams instructions more than Roberts was. Even when Forrest got injured Roberts didn't stake his place, we were crying out for him to come back.

You're doing him a disservice and not being factual with why he was in. Roberts lost form, he started brilliantly, got injured and couldn't get back into it for a while.

That's about the size of it,he will be with City pre-season that is certain.
The best we can hope for is,Pep will have a look decide he is not ready and look for another loan deal, don't think he will sell him,he would be mad if he can't see the potential there.
So then we have a chance of a loan deal or would he want to loan him to the EPL so he can see what level he is really at,that's probably the most sensible decision.
I'd say our chances on having him back on loan are slim but it'd not impossible

  5. If he was to be given a proper shot at City (I don't think he will), I genuinely he can be a star for them and prove just as effective, perhaps even more so then players like Sterling and Navas.

There is a quality in him, if nurtured could make him an great player.

He needs to be in a team like ours or city etc. His specialty is unlocking packed defences like nothing. No point being sent to a lower league team that'll defend the full game.

You can't say he's worth £30m due to the "Inflated EPL madhouse", but then justify the £12m as a normal valuation.

£12m would of been just as madhouse, had it been upfront. But it wasn't. City paid for potential with a heavily incentive based deal ie. they may actually never even pay £12m.

Roberts has to break into the City squad play games, probably even play for England before the £12m will be fulfilled. He, in a literal sense, has never been, and didn't arrive, as a £12m player.

To say an 18 y/o with less than 20 pro apps (no goals), probably mostly Championship sub appearances, arrived at Celtic as a £12m player is what's wrong with the game. The EPL mentality.

I can't even begin to debate £30m, so far off of my valuation. Maybe one day, he'll have to prove himself in the Prem and at City for that.

As I said, I probably would go for it if offered. He's a lovely wee player and will be sorely missed.

It's a fair enough valuation now, but not 18 months ago.

£12m is to much to splash out for a club like ours. We could get 3-4 quality players for the same amount elsewhere.

I think he'd make a great number 10 as well.

His ability to beat players, find space, close control, vision and finishing ability all combine and scream number 10 to me.

Dont get me wrong love the wee man but we played a lot of the season with Forrest on the right and to be honest its really been 6 of 1 in respect that for me when either start we dont look like we are any less of a team. Would I take Roberts on a permanent deal. No doubt I would but not for 12 million. No chance.

I have to disagree on this bit.

I think that when Roberts has started regularly and consistently in these past couple months, you've seen the difference in quality.

Forrest has had a good season don't get me wrong, but for me, there is no contest between the two. Have to remember this is the first bit of proper, season long consistency we have seen from Forrest in near enough 7 years in the 1st team.

Roberts is 6 years younger and has proven himself to be just as, if not even more influential when given a run. If he was to become our own player then there would only be one winner out on the right. IMO anyway.

You could see how effective he is in a central role when Dembele and Griffiths were out.. his link up play and ability to see a pass is excellent..

We've missed a trick not playing him centrally a bit more imo.

    Yeah I agree, JC.

He is devastating coming in onto that left foot but in the 'hole' I reckon' he'd double the amount of goals he gets while also still contributing in assists.

IIRC when he first burst onto the scene at Fulham he was played centrally.

Anyway all the debate around him is futile as Man City will dictate his future.

All the more impressive when you think he was injured early on for a couple of month's and really took some time to get back firing 100%..

Only the last 4 month's/turn of the year really you'd say he's been at his absolute best. Injury free season and you could probably add another 10 goals/assists combined..

He will hit 20 assists before this season is out plus double figures in goals.

As Mcguire said above, hugely impressive when you consider his injury set back and wee Jimminy Cricket hitting form.

I do agree that if he was our player there would only be one winner. However genuinely Forrest has been superb this season and we have been brilliant all season even without Roberts so im not overly concerned about losing him. All the same hes such an exciting wee player would be great to get him signed

See if I was Man City I'd send him back until January. If we're out of Europe by then he can go back and compete for a place or be loaned elsewhere. If we're still in it he can stay and continue
