Celtic have made contact with former Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford over a potential move to Glasgow.
The Parkhead club sold Adam Idah to Swansea on deadline day, with a move for Anderlecht’s Kasper Dolberg scuppered by a late intervention from Ajax.
Left short in attacking areas the Scottish champions have tried to land former Leicester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho after Sevilla ripped up the Nigerian’s contract.
With the Europa League squad deadline looming at 11pm tonight, however, it's understood that they have also been in touch with former England international Bamford after he ended his seven year stint at Leeds by mutual consent last week.
The 31-year-old helped the Elland Road to two Championship titles, scoring 60 goals in 205 appearances.
Last season the forward was restricted to 17 Championship appearances, failing to start a match. Last month manager Daniel Farke confirmed that Bamford he had no future at the club.
Bamford earned his sole England cap in September 2021. Linked with Championship Wrexham, the former Chelsea and Middlesbrough attacker has now been contacted over a possible move to the SPFL. It remains to be seen whether any deal can be done in time for the Europa League deadline.
As well as Dolberg and Iheanacho Celtic also missed out on David Fofana. The Chelsea fringe striker chose a move to Charlton instead – only for the move to collapse at the last minute.
Despite securing winger Sebastian Tounekti in a £5million deal from Hammarby, the club pulled the plug on a loan move for Burnley’s Manuel Benson after Birmingham City ended their interest in winger Yang Hyun-jun.

A couple nights ago a lot were making this joke when it looked like we had Dolberg. And for once we all actually thought it was a joke and could never actually happen :56:
