never heard of this guy but at 24 celtic must feel he can add to the first team or get in the first team in the near future. the only thing that sounds good about this is tony mowbray. I seem to remember this guy getting un-knowins in at hibs and playing good football and beating the dark side 3-0 at ibrox and beat them a few other times. :celt_2: have faith! In Celtic i trust!!

I agree people get too hung up which country you come from or league or team you played for . Anytime you feel like that you should remeber henke who came from relative obscurity and lubo is another . I am not saying this guy is a world beater but at 200k or so he can be cover at the very least and especially if he is 2 footed same as lubo

an honest assessment is saying how good he was or wasnt and saying if he wanted him there. he went a step further and got all worked up over it. who cares.. your buying potential for little money at all.

but getting all worked up over signing potential is foolish.. then again its probably a good thing people got worked up when we signed most of our stars.. boruc, mcdonald, robson.. compared to the tommyg's :50:

Signing McCourt isnt going to affect any move for a top target like Pavlyuchenko etc. or affect any prospects already at the club.

Im from derry, and derry city are my local club so i see him play almost every week and can tell you that he is by far the best player in the eircom league, providing he stays fit ! it would be hard to take such a big step to celtic but i think that he would be a good signing for that money! kevin doyle, stephen hunt, roy keane - all cheap signings from the eircom league who turned out to be brilliant signings

McCourt is a good little player. On his day he is probably the best player in the Eircom League although Keith Fahey runs him very close. He's pretty quick, very skillfull and tricky and can play on either wing.He won't displace McGeady or Nakamura but he is good cover and we need another winger anyway. He's injury prone though and apparently he likes a drink so he'll need to curb that. For the price he is going at he is well worth signing and I think a lot of fans will be surprised at how good he is.

The Derry-born man was, like so many promising players in Northern Ireland, hailed as the new George Best when he made the breakthrough at Rochdale.
He won nine caps for the Northern Ireland Under-21 team and turned out for his country in a 5-0 defeat by Spain at Windsor Park in 2002.
McCourt attracted the attention of several top English clubs around that time and Rochdale turned down a formal bid of £1.5 million from Manchester City.
However, he lost his way after that. It is only now after a fruitful three seasons with home town team City that he is set to return to football's big time with the club he has supported since he was a boy. Celtic's offer of £150,000 will rise to £250,000 depending on his success in Glasgow.

From the eveningtimes, doesn't sound too bad to me, a decent backup on the wings at least.

I can't believe the standards some people here have. A few days ago folk were saying Thuram wasn't good enough for Celtic, now a guy who is being bought for 150k (about 6 weeks of Bobo's wages) is not good enough either.

We need cover on the wings, we have Naka and Aiden, then after that we expect a centre mid to cover unless Koki gets his chance this year. I was speaking to a Derry boy last weekend and he was absolutely raving about McCourt. He looks like he can beat a man and has an eye for goal, just the type of entertainer that most of us are dying to see.

It's 150k, a punt. It is no loss if he turns out poor and he could turn out great.

I guarantee if David Villa were to sign tommorow there would still be a minority on here trying to put a negative slant on things, it's farcical.

Well if it helps he doesn't shave too often...He will keep the hairy face quota up at the club now that Pressley is gone.
