    It wasn't a daft mistake playing Bitton though, there's a clear and logical plan behind it.

    That's completely different from Bitton himself making the mistake.

    Aye, and its that mistake that's being criticised. I don't think the guys a centre back at all. Not just because of that one moment, his positioning is frightening there for me.

    As an emergency? Aye, fair enough. I'd rather Lustig, throwing Ralston in the deep end a bit, depending on Gamboa's fitness but Bitton gives me the absolute fear at centre back.

    Biggest plus is Jozo takes on responsibility to help out his more inexperienced partner at the back though. Love seeing that kinda stuff.

    The discussion I'm having though is about Rodgers, folk are calling playing Bitton a daft mistake and stupid. I'm saying where's the proof in that.

    The discussion you're having is about Bitton mate, ye just said it there yourself.

    Watch him play at centre back, there's your proof. Just because we've got away with so far doesn't mean he's good there.

    Check the thread of discussion - I'm replying to someone saying playing Bitton is a stupid mistake.

    That isn't on him, it's on the Manager. I'm saying show me the proof that's a stupid mistake, not a single point dropped...

    I agree, just one we've got away with so far. Would never trust him against stronger opposition.

    Not immaterial at all, your not actually looking at the game or his play, just the result. Which is * stupid.

    Not a chance it's a stupid mistake, it's a clear and calculated move to give him game time at centre half for 2 reasons; knowing having his ball playing ability from there we'll be able to play 2 strikers when both are fit and the fact we have 2 centre halves out injured. Something Rodgers himself has alluded to.

    He's not in the habit of making stupid mistakes whether you or anyone else doesn't like Bitton.

    No managers infallible, I'm sure Brendan will be the first to admit he is capable of making mistakes.

    Although it's interesting that part of your reason there isn't the fact he's actually decent at defending at centre back - cos he's no.

    He's tried it before with Can at Liverpool he's not a CB either albeit a much better player than Bitton..

    I can see why he's tried it and his passing ability is a real asset with more time on his hands from the deeper position.

    However you can't just learn to be a CB in two weeks his positional sense and awareness when defending was really poor last night.

    And imo he shouldn't be risked there on Wed.

    A stupid mistake is playing 1 at the back on Wednesday not having a logical thought process and forward planning.
