A shame he couldn't shine in his usual way by running at the Rangers defence, they really squeezed him out.

But absolutely delighted with his defensive contribution and his lack of fear when either getting stuck in or being on the other end of 50/50's. He took a couple of strong tackles and just got on with it...

Get him back high up on the left though, where he can cut in and wreak havoc. Starting to think a 4-4-1-1 or 4-2-3-1 is our best formation:

    .......................Hooper(Samaras)......................
    McCourt............Stokes......................Forrest....
    ...................................................................
    ..................Kayal(Ledley)...Ki(Brown).................
    ...................................................................

Mind you Lennon is proving to be a proper tinkerer when it comes to lineups....

I thot he was outstanding at Ibrox, there is so much scope for him to grow into our team into even a Hartley type player when his dancing days are over. Superb player

I think that as well, I think we played 4-2-3-1 against Utrecht and a couple of other games and it worked a treat I was unsure as to why we started tinkering with the formation - I think was to accommodate two strikers.

I personally think we should be playing 4-2-3-1 regularly and change to 4-4-1-1 when the tougher games come around, there's not that much of a difference between the formations really is there, apart from the wide players operating deeper.

Thought he was out poorest player v Rangers even after watching the game twice. I think it was more of a case of the whole team played well enough to have him as a bit of passenger more than anything else. Didnt suite the more central role. Fans kept askng for this but there are a number of close observers of Paddy who will confirm he is better wide on the left despite what many fans think. Didnt have enough moments of creativity to make up for what we lose by playing him, which is what I think is exactly what the last 3 managers have concluded. Still a talented supersub and no more for me.

I watched his defensive side closely and although he put in a few tackles he also stood and let players past him a lot. I noticed he was in energy conserving mode from fairly early in the 2nd half and I was surprised He wasnt hooked once we have a goal.

I think you're being harsh on McCourt gunt. He looked really, really confident on the ball. His pass to Forrest in the first half was a huge turning point in the game that must have worried Smith. After watching the game again myself I was even more impressed with Samaras and the way he linked with Forrest in terms of changing positions. Something you don't see through the tension.

McCourt is also fit enough to last any SPL match all the way if he can last the chasing down at Ibrox.

seriously my ma could have said what you said and stokes didnt even play, of course we were all looking kayal back he proved he was excellent before he go injured and of course ledley had to up his game we have all been screaming for it not that he was great. And paddy wasnt that quiet, should have scored, set up forrest and was generally getting stuck in, he really wasnt running the show but was very good all the same. Hang your head in shame and we will pretend u didnt just post that comment

thing is he did the odd tackle and there has been way too much hype about that It was desceptive. He also did a lot of strolling. I specifically kept an eye on him when I noticed he was doing this early in the 2nd half and he does undoubtedly swing the lead. It really annoys me when a player dips the shoulder and goes past and he just stands there. You just need one or two players to do that and we become sieve like. IN the OF game we were protected by having only one striker, two LBs etc and we could get away with it but in a 4-4-2 you cant.

I thought he was fantastic in link up play with samaras in running back and going forward imo he was 1 of our best players.

Well that's a constructive argument. STFU.

Paddy's posistion is the one he played in against the Huns, less defensive work but he did put in as much of a shift as is possible with Paddy.

Don'y give two * about this Paddy's genuis is not in defending or harrasing the opponents. There was the full of Ranger's midfield worried about him and the only time they let him slip away for them he cut them open and sent Forrest through.

I thought he played brillant. The huns were ordered to close him down which gave us more space. When they didnt close him down he caused watty & ally screaming and caused problems. Ran and chased. In the 91min was closing defenders down - great work paddy.
