Your attempts at sarcasm clearly display your lack of an intelligent argument and as for judging me, i'm curious as to what you actually think you know about me. Have we crossed paths before or were you perhaps using a different name at the time?:icon_mrgreen:

Sorry but this comment just sums up to me a section of the clubs support and in my opinion a large proportion of mccourts Fan base

As soon as one Derry man leaves they want another just proves to me if he was any other nationality he would have been chased out the club along time ago

FFS, I was joking. That's the whole reason why I said McClean because he was from Derry. I was trying to be funny. Obviously that failed.

But in all honesty I do not care what nationality they are as long as they play well.

My favourite player is Kayal even though I absolute hate Israel. My second favourite is Wanyama and third favourite is Mulgrew.

Their nationality has nothing to do with it for me.

I didnt relise it was a joke and with others then commenting on him I though it was another "if he's Irish he's good enough" takes on our signing policy bit like the lazy journalism of the Scottish media

I genuinely don't want any more arguments on this thread but it's laughable that you believe I lack an intelligent argument on McCourt when I have proved with substantial facts and evidence why our fringe player doesn't deserve the adulation he does. You're lucky I've been banned for the past 2 weeks but I won't let you away with insulting me and my point of view, especially from a McCourt fan boy.

    0.

Not really bothered by that though. He isn't a player you love because of his stats its because of the way he plays. Considering he's scored 10 goals in 14 starts I'd say his statistics aren't too bad though. :50:

Exactly ORIGINALS but Paddy is a pyoor rebel who luvs ra Celtic like the rest ae us mahn. For any that disagree with my point of view, atleast admit that I am statistically correct and that if you're being honest, the following is not worthy of such tremendous adulation:

In the past 4 years he has had a total of 69 appearances returning 10 goals. 50 of his appearances came during the period when Rangers won 3IAR and last season, when we won the league for the first time in 4 years, he didn't start a single SPL match. He was in contention to start in 20 odd European games and I believe he has started just one: An average run out against Rennes. In 10 Cup Finals and Semi Finals during his time at Celtic, he has made just 5 appearances and every single one of them was from the bench with 20-30 minutes to go. He only really had a good spell in the first team between December 2010 and January 2011 - Including a good appearance at Ibrox - but Kris Commons' arrival and immediate success effectively killed his Celtic career. Infact it could be argued he was at his best under Mowbray ala wonder goals against Falkirk, St Mirren and St Johnstone.

Here is a list of all 10 Paddy McCourt goals and how crucial they truly were:

1st goal - Opener in 2-0 win over St Mirren in 6th SPL game of 2009/10
2nd goal - 3rd goal in 4-0 win over Falkirk in the CIS Cup
3rd goal - 4th goal in 4-0 win over St Johnstone in 20th SPL game of 2009/10
4th goal - Winner in 1-0 win over ICT in 1st SPL game of 2010/11
5th goal - 3rd goal in 3-0 win over Hearts in 4th SPL game of 2010/11
6th goal - 9th goal in 9-0 win over Aberdeen in 11th SPL game of 2010/11
7th goal - 2nd goal to put us 2-0 up in 2-2 draw against ICT in 15th game of 2010/11
8th goal - Winner in 1-0 win over Motherwell in 18th SPL game of 2010/11
9th goal - 4th goal in 4-0 win over Hears in 23rd SPL game of 2010/11
10th goal - 4th goal in 4-0 win over Motherwell in final SPL game of 2010/11
[Currently McCourt has scored 0 goals in the past 15 months]

But that's why people like him. Just repeating someone's argument in a silly voice doesn't make it wrong.

If you genuinely don't think McCourt is a good footballer to watch then maybe your not human. :97:

If he's such a good footballer to watch, why is it that Paddy McCourt started ZERO SPL games last season when we won the title for the first time in 4 years? I don't care if he's a good football player, it's with 10 minutes to go when we're 3-0 up 90% of the time and he hasn't scored in 15 months. Face facts.

So my perfectly reasonable thread about how our fringe player doesn't deserve to be treated like a king is a, and I quote, "monstrosity troll thread" which ironically you just trolled in yourself. We'll see what the mods have to say about that. You lost the debate. Quite frankly, Ache, you have nothing worthwhile to contribute to this thread, except to troll me and attack me personally, so I politely ask you to stop posting because your antics not worthy of this fine debate. Altho I suppose you're just like Paddy McCourt in many ways.

It's hilarious how facts get in the way of some trolls views on our mercurial Irish fringe player and his non contribution over 4 years. :50:

However I've made my mind up. I am absolutely disgusted by the amount of vitriol directed at me by types like Ache et al for having a different point of view. For having the nerve to question why a player like Paddy McCourt, with the following record:

In the past 4 years he has had a total of 69 appearances returning 10 goals. 50 of his appearances came during the period when Rangers won 3IAR and last season, when we won the league for the first time in 4 years, he didn't start a single SPL match.

[continuing] is treated like an icon alongside actual legends like Henrik Larsson. It bewilders me but not as bewildering as the amount of people that don't agree, however I suppose if the old Irish and scruffy stereotypical "he's one of us" excuse is the majority view then who am I to dare to educate people with facts? All inclusive? Only if you agree with people like Ache and other types it seems. Okay mods please shut this thread down permanently and in future, I'll avoid such hard hitting subjects as daring to question our beloved Paddy McCourt and all he has contributed to the club. You can be assured of that. Hail Hail :50:

10 goals in 69 appearances is actually a very good record for a winger, you do realise that? Especially when you factor in that the majority of those 69 appearances are from the bench.

Paddy gives us an option, as simple as that. His ability is unmatched by anyone else in the squad ie the things Paddy can do (I'm not saying he does them all the time), no one else in the team can match.
