    Okay I'll rephrase it. :50:

I strongly disagree that our 28 year old fringe player that started 0 SPL games last season, has started a total of 1 derby game, 1 european game, has never started in a domestic cup final and has scored 10 goals in 4 years at the club with only 1 of them important - the winner against ICT at the start of 2010/2011 with 37 games remaining in that particular season - should start games for Celtic ahead of James Forrest. The ironic thing being that his only important goal for the club was also not beautiful at all...

I agree with the OP. He's never done it in the games that matter and does't look like he ever will. He'd be a world beater at a lower level but I think we should move him on asap. I like the idea of Paddy McCort but the realty is very different.

And for all his starts, what has he done in derby games or in Europe?

Forrest does not posses the skill, brains, or passing ability than McCourt has.

That is now the job of the modern day full back. He would be no loss to our starting XI.

Your point of view is without anything to back it up other than "I like McCourt, he's pyoor silky man, if only Forrest was as great as passing the baw with 10 minutes to go when we're 3-0 up" infact I have no doubt the fact Forrest doesn't fit your stereotypical opinion of what a Celtic man should be, no doubt you would have been against Jock Stein being appointed manager back in the day, is exactly what your issue is. Forrest has had many great games, and mainly starts, for us and is the best young talent in the country, McCourt wasted and continues to waste his career with a lack of ambition and will never do anything of note for Celtic or any top club, unless you believe Rochdale is a top club, once he finally leaves Celtic Park. Thank * the history books will show Forrest was a far bigger contributor to Celtic's success than a man that has done nothing in the grand scale of things, however he does have an undeserved cult following and for that I salute him. :50:p.s I'll state it once again:

In the past 4 years he has had a total of 69 appearances returning 10 goals. 50 of his appearances came during the period when Rangers won 3IAR and last season, when we won the league for the first time in 4 years, he didn't start a single SPL match. He was in contention to start in 20 odd European games and he has started just one: An average run out against Rennes. In 10 Cup Finals and Semi Finals during his time at Celtic, he has made just 5 appearances and every single one of them was from the bench with 20-30 minutes to go. He only really had a good spell in the first team between December 2010 and January 2011 - Including a good appearance at Ibrox - but Kris Commons' arrival and immediate success effectively killed his Celtic career. Infact it could be argued he was at his best under Mowbray ala wonder goals against Falkirk, St Mirren and St Johnstone. In fact here's a look at his 10 goals for Celtic and how crucial they were:

1st goal - Opener in 2-0 win over St Mirren in 6th SPL game of 2009/10
2nd goal - 3rd goal in 4-0 win over Falkirk in the CIS Cup
3rd goal - 4th goal in 4-0 win over St Johnstone in 20th SPL game of 2009/10
4th goal - Winner in 1-0 win over ICT in 1st SPL game of 2010/11
5th goal - 3rd goal in 3-0 win over Hearts in 4th SPL game of 2010/11
6th goal - 9th goal in 9-0 win over Aberdeen in 11th SPL game of 2010/11
7th goal - 2nd goal to put us 2-0 up in 2-2 draw against ICT in 15th game of 2010/11
8th goal - Winner in 1-0 win over Motherwell in 18th SPL game of 2010/11
9th goal - 4th goal in 4-0 win over Hears in 23rd SPL game of 2010/11
10th goal - 4th goal in 4-0 win over Motherwell in final SPL game of 2010/11
[Currently McCourt has scored 0 goals in the past 15 months]

There are so many questions people like you can't and refuse to answer RudeBhoy, such as why would Tony Mowbray, Gordon Strachan and Neil Lennon overlook this Messi like genius and why can't they see the brilliance you do from watching in the pub or at home? 0 SPL starts last season, even when we knew the league was won after Valentines Day, why no starts for the Derry Pele? Quite simply I prefer sustainable substance (Forrest) over sporadic style (McCourt).

Okay I official retract my remark that Rude Bhoy would not have supported Jock Stein's appointment as Celtic manager. Now back to the football points...

Especially accusing him of something like that, just because he likes on style of player over another.

I don't agree with him here but * me, what a ridiculous accusation and conclusion to jump to.

Right lads this is fast becoming a joke, pack it in and stay on topic, all members are reminded on a constant basis to report rather than respond, i suggest members start doing this rather than taking good threads off topic and closing due to mindless point scoring

I agree there is no way Paddy should be starting over wee Jimmy at this juncture.

I'm also sure that 3 managers probably know a bit more than I do about Paddy's abilities than me but I just see something in the lad, I really wish he would get more of a chance.

As it is I don't think Jimmy and Paddy are fighting for the same place in the team, and that Paddy might get his chance this season in the SPL at times.

It's up to him to take it because he is an exceptional talent.

No way should Paddy start infront of James Forrest. However it depends how you are playing it, I'd pick Paddy 100/100 if it was a choice between him and Forrest as a central midfielder. Completely different players, you know what I mean?

Paddy will prove his worth beyond any doubt this season though, that I am 100% sure of.
