Thought he was really good today. I kept saying to my dad in the first half that we were crying out for some incisiveness and creativity, and he certainly brought some when he came on.

    Kyogo. A phenomenon
This thread could have been bumped from one of about 20 from the last 2+ years. There is a reason he doesn't start / get more game time. Unless one thinks that they know more than those in charge, I would kindly suggest it's fanciful pish he is the answer to all solutions / best player at CP.

Fine on occasion - a luxury player.

Never in a million years a first 11 regular as things stand. As shown by the fact he isn't. I'd rather trust those who see him every day than those who see him on * tv for 90 minutes every so often.

I thought we were really poor today until the first goal, and I genuinely didn't feel Paddy did a lot. I'm not talking about individual passes, which we all know he can do as well as anyone, but I didn't feel he dragged us forward, and don't think that's something he's got in his locker.

He is individually brilliant but doesn't make the team better in my opinion.

He played from the start against Atletico Madrid (I think it was them) in the hole this season and was completely out of his depth, this is the sort of higher level I'm talking about.

I think Paddy is a great sub for the odd cameo appearance but he will never be a regular for us even in the SPL. I think the fact that he's been here so long and has never played more than maybe 9 or 10 games in a row says everything.

The fact is we see him where it counts, on the pitch. I trust in Neil as well but I do think Paddy should be getting more game time, the fact that for years he has been the last ditch attempt to win a game shows that everybody knows his attacking prowess at Celtic.

He should have a bigger role, he deserves that. His goals and assists compared to how many minutes he has actually played for Celtic is astonishing, his injuries have hampered him, which is a shame but when fit he should always be in and around the squad.

The fact of the matter is despite being typecast as a dribbling circus act he is actually a very good footballer with excellent vision and weight of pass.

He looked far more assured of himself today, where normally he would feel pressure to beat 4 men he was taking the ball and picking a pass. One of which led to a goal and the other led to a surefire goal but for the person receiving the pass.

That is the type of return you want from a playmaker, which Paddy 100% is.

Aye? I thought that we were doing quite well, creating chances while getting used to a knew formation. Paddy came on and done the deep lying playmaker role. He done that quite well, controlled the game with his passing.

He really starts to shine when he moved to where Commons was playing. In a position that he can deliver quality in the final third.

I thought he done well against Athletico Madrid earlier on in the season, he ended up being tripled up on everytime he had the ball. We just didn't take advantage of this.

I agree, I've never been convinced by him at all. He has glimpses of brilliance but he is such a passenger in some matches. He is a really good impact sub though.

couldn't agree more, the game swung fully in our favour when he was introduced, his passing was sublime at times & it was a different paddy out there today if u ask me.
not the dribbling paddy but a player capable of controling the game with his passing & vision.

How did you see us playing today? The commentators kept going on about us playing 3 at the back but from the TV i thought it looked like

    Wanyama Rogne Mulgrew Izzy
    Cha McCourt/Ki Ledley Commons
    Hooper Brozek

with Commons moving inside a bit. I didn't really see it as 3 at the back/a new formation. Besides the point though, just wondering what others thought.

From what I remember of the Atleti game your man Witsel had him in his pocket.

Haha wrong guy. Fair play. In that case I cant remember the name of the lad im talking about, as I said I'm not even 100% it was that game he played in, I didn't look back on it but my general point remains - he isn't good enough at that level.

Pretty much how I see Paddy. Brilliant impact sub but whenever he starts I dont think he is capable of keeping it up for even close to 90 minutes. Good guy to have on the bench but I dont think he has covered himself in glory whenever he has started in the past.

He certainly isnt our best player

Paddy is a class act and is probably the most skillfull player we have but not our best, influential or even our most effective player.

Think Paddy is far from starting when everyone is fit and for his own good/career he should leave the club.

Was excellent today just wish he could add a bit of consistency to his game.:shamrock:

Definitely and out and out 352:

    Zuluska

    Wanyama Rogne Mulgrew

    Cha_______________________Izzy
    Ki/Paddy Ledley

    Commons

    Hooper Brozek
With Commons playing in the hole. When it was needed instead of getting outnumbered on the wing Commons was dropping back and Ki/Ledley were doubling up on the wing.

When Paddy came on that went out the window a bit but Ledley was still doing it. Wanyama was powering forward when we had extra cover in the middle as well, with our other full back staying back. Mulgrew tried to do the same a few times as well but didn't do it as succesfully.

It was very smiliar to Martin O'Neill's formation that Lenny played in actually. With Commons and then later Paddy playing the Lubo role.
