Owen Coyle next Celtic Manager? (Threads merged)

Discussion in 'Celtic Chat' started by doctor venglos, May 24, 2009.

  1. Not always. What if your boyhood heroes were Cowdenbeath:84:

  2. I agree with that. Is it because of the £1 million that we aren't going for him or is it just a case that the board have already decided Coyle is there first choice.

Mowbrary has had run ins with Peace at WBA, that could easily be part of the reason also. Our board won't want him banging on the door asking for money etc..

  3. Play-off was in the afternoon, supposedly the meeting was that evening in a hotel

  4. :56:

  5. gunt you :56:

  6. thats right sorry. ones head is up ones *. id still rather bilic. in fact id prefer mowbray to coyle too

  7. so will Coyle be called a yes-man etc like WGS for accepting a wee budget without complaint?

  8. Its what is running through my mind anyway....

  9. eh am i missing something here?

we are Celtic, not a first division team in either Scotland or England

yes he has done well but i fear he is too inexperienced to manage us just yet, however if you are impressed by coming second in the first division in scotland and a few fantstic results in england then fair enough

i however, believe that Celtic should go for the best manager who is available and as yet we have not ascertained that, so it would be a knee * simple solution to go for coyle. once lawell is finished enjoying himself in rome this evening, lets wait and see

owen coyle may well be going places and i wish him well, i have no axe to grind with him but i think Celtic's aspirations should always be in the first class department, whether or not his experince falls into that catagory is up for debate for some.

  10. just gone odds on on betfair!!!

  11. no, no, no...

    NO to Coyle
    NO to Mowbray
    NO to Collins
    NO to Keane

a minority of our so-called "fans" didn't like WGS because he wasn't "one of us" (scottish, irish or a former player) Well, what tossers you are!
I don't wanna hear any of that, which frankly is racist, crap!
Why are we talkin about these guys as potential managers? They're not experienced enough. MON had relevant success @ Leicester and WGS hadn't much previous notable success, but was partly selected by MON as heir to the throne.

Why aren't enough of us thinkin outside the box? Only Slaven Bilic has been mentioned so far. He would definitely be a candidate for me, but what about a man with a credible record on the european club and international stages? Many of our fans won't like him because of one of his previous posts but no-one can say he isn't capable! He could be expensive, but his contacts through out the world could only be a benefit to celtic... how about Sven Goran Eriksson??? Seriously!!!:shamrock::50:

  12. at told the night wgs quit that coyle will be the next manager. thats from a good source who knows coyle.

  13. I like Coyle. I like the fact that Celtic might be taking a gamble on him. Bilic is an interesting idea, but I haven't heard a word from his mouth, only Rudi's. We're a club who should be winning domestically, but scrapping in Europe; our finances dictate this. Coyle has proved that he can win through a league superior to the SPL, where he'll have a budget similar to that at Celtic and with a smaller squad. He'll trim the fat at the club and make intelligent purchases. There will be no Virgos, Du Weis, or Gravesens.
