Right lads just a we thread about something thats been * me off about our players!!!
First of all samaras last season coming out with his * in the papers, like they didnt deserve to be champions last season etc saying we are better than you etc and it blew up in his face.
Then a open the paper the other day and the big 3.8 million stiker fortune is in the paper saying were going to win this and were going to win that next season, what the * has he contributed for his fee??? imo next to * all looks very clumbsy on the ball and doesnt score nearly enough goals, i had bad feeling about him since a watched him against dynamo moscow up at parkhead, he looked utter mince!!! and he clearly hasnt done enough to justify his large fee imo
Then again a open the paper the next day and hinkel is in the paper saying the same *?????????
I really think our players should keep there gubs shut, there given the opposition there team talk and am sick of reading * our players say in these papers, they shouldnt be foccusing on them they should be focusing on there own club!!! neil lennon or who ever is in charge will have to put a stop to this, am so sick of our players coming out and saying were better, etc etc, i believe we are a better team than rangers and i know the players feel there better but these players that come out and say things have contributed next to * all season !!!
For * sake when was the last time sammie scored for us??? that long ago i cant remember!!!
A just hope who ever comes in bans the players from talking to the papers about the hunns!!!

Means diddly squat to me. The players have an obligation to give their opinions and are probably pressurised by the club to do so.
If you don't like it simply stop reading the red-tops -
Do you read exactly what they say or just the sensationalised headlines?
It tends to be them just giving their opinions to a question they were asked directly, in a few lines of response the papers take the few words that can be spun into a good headline.
If it bothers you that much I suggest not reading the papers :icon_mrgreen: -

its as simple as some players are intelligent and some are planks, its just unfortunate when the latter get a turn to speak, same in every club
-
Aye the Hinkel one was a case in point.
It's been twisted slightly by the papers to look like he's being defiant and hissy, saying "Celtic are the best team in Scotland and we'll prove it in the Old Firm".
When in actual fact, what he said was (paraphrased again):
"We know we've not been good enough (over the past 2 seasons), but we have the players who SHOULD be the best in Scotland, and hopefully in the Old Firm we can prove that".
Perfectly legitimate imo but been twisted to be given a hateful and envious agenda from a perfectly normal and level-headed professional. -
too me it seems like the players are a bit more confident in themselves and know that second best in glasgow is nothing i think lenny has drilled this into their heads and now they are realising but just my opinion probably wrong :)

I would ban the players from talking to the papers! Simple!

like back in the 60s when Jock was our manager. I read that no player was allowed to talk to the press back then -

But on a serious note, it seems alot of the time when players speak out saying that we are the best team it backfires. I widh they would keep it hushed until after the game and if we win gloat away. But in the last 2 seasons we have done nothing worth gloating about, barring the league cup last year against the unwashed. -

My suggestion would be to read the actual articles and put yourself in the players position if posed with such a question.
A player asked a question along the lines of "do you think Celtic can compete for the treble next season?" can quickly turn into a "WE'RE GOING TO DO THE TREBLE NEXT SEASON" headline.
Media bullshit, mate, try not to let it bother you. :50: -

Chivs 105 you're spot on, Celtic should strive to be the best club, not only on the pitch, but presenting themselves off it. There are more aspects to a football club than results on the pitch, as Barca so elequently put it 'Mes Que Un Club' which translates as 'more than a club'.
We have a business to run, a charity to keep providing for the sick and the poor (remember, this is the reason Celtic exist in the first place), a brand name to promote worldwide and much much more. In every aspect I want to see Celtic as the market leader. I want to be able to talk to someone half way round the world about Celtic and their reply is that we are a well run, respectable, charitable, successful club and that includes our players conducting themselves in a professional manner.
This is what we support Bhoys and Ghirls not just the 11 men on the park and if that's not you then there's a bunch of blue nose mongrels on the other side of the city waiting for your support.
And just one more thing, real champions don't need to play mind games, respect is only truly won when you've taken everything your opponents can possibly give and your still on top.
Just imagine how proud you would walk the streets of Glasgow in the Green and White hoops if for season after season rangers, hearts, hibs, well etc. had resorted to lambasting Celtic week in week out and our only response was winning the SPL title. That's a true champion Bhoys and GhirlsLast edited by a moderator: May 16, 2010 -

I would just ban the players from talking to the tabloids. A few months of being snubbed and getting no soundbites to work with would soon see them report Celtic related stories in a more balanced and accurate way I'm sure.
-
I would ban all media from celtic park as they continually twist quotes coming out of parkhead to sound either disrespectful to other clubs or paranoid.
Celtic should let the fans know about what is happening at the club through their official website and tell the scottish media to go * themselves -
So what ?
The media twist things.
& also , is it not good to play mind games ? have fun? -
I find it embarrising and when our players we have better players and should be better than the huns it is just nonsense. The huns are back to back champions and if we're being completely honest had they not had so many fixtures it could of being three titles in a row. I want our players to do there talking on the pitch and stop doing the huns teamtalk. Novo is the only hun in recent memory to go too the papers before an old firm game and talk tripe.

time for a smell the glove metality......let our football do the talking.
