i think some people needs a reality check here?

41,000? thats still sound! how many clubs can boast that amount at home games anyway?

there are other reasons why there is a drop in attendances now
    1-lack of money people have!
    2-people not working!
3-the standard of football is * just now!
    4-christmas is comming up!
5-people working and not able to get to games!
6-some fans really fed up in general with the lack of quality in the team and more or less says * it!.

these are some of the reasons people could have for not going you know?the attendance will pick up again.

I think we're talking about two separate things here folks.

    1) People who don't go to the games because money is tight.

    2) What the original poster actually mentioned - people who already have season books but can't be arsed turning up because the particular game is not high-profile enough for them.

The first I can totally understand. But the second lot have to remember that - in reality - the league is seldom won and lost in Old Firm games. It's won and lost against teams like Motherwell, Killie and Dunfermline, in front of a "subdued" support...

Sorry for not being as good a celtic fan as you! :54: The attendances always take a dip at this time of the year. I went yesterday but left 40 seconds before the final whistle. It feels good to be a part timer, you should try it :50: I know your just wanting the best for celtic, but you need to be realistic mate.

This started happening when O'Neill was here. There are numerous reasons but the one I think that gets continually overlooked is a lot of people just can't get themselves up for a game against St Mirren when, in O'Neill's case, we had just beaten Juventus or some other European giant 3 days before.

i got my hours cut to * 18 hours a week & i went to the game yesterday, im just glad i paid for my book in full when i was working, i know about ten people that sat in the pub to watch the game yesterday rather than go to a game that they had already paid for :(

Exactly mate, no one wants to waste hard earned money on a poor team especially at this time of year when christmas is just round the corner

I think the point is more to do with those fans that have already paid for their season ticket, don't have huge travelling expenses yet decide not to go to the game.

Trackebhoy said he knew of around 10 people that went to the pub to watch it instead of going to the game despite having season tickets - those are the type of fans that can be considered fair weather fans imo. Money obviously isn't an excuse as they'd likely have spent a fair bit in the pub so the only reason not to go is the standard of football yet they are likely to be the first in the queue for tickets for big games.

No doubt come the Old Firm game in January all of the glory hunting fans will come out from the woodwork and that * me off! It's the same in Europe, we will probably have round about 40,000 there on Wednesday if we are lucky but you can bet if we were playing a "big" team in the Champions League, it would be packed regardless!

if you have bought a season card then it is up to you weather you go or not of course the old firm game is the most popular thats why i have a season as you could easily get tickets for any other game but those two

Unfortunately, I have my Leg in Plaster. I havent been to a game since we Beat Killie at Parkhead.

I am due in Hospital on 28th Dec. May be allowed to put weight on it, may be getting a half leg cast. If so, I'll be at parkhead on 3rd Jan.

For some people to say that fans are part-timers and only pick and choose to go to the big games are out of order. Some people can't help it, and due to circumstances cant make it.

Do you honestly believe that I would rather sit in the house on a saturday and listen to the wife moaning, coz bits of plaster are 'ruining' the carpet, if I could manage to go outside???

If there was a reason to bring up the 'some fans are better than others' argument...

The bottom line is were playing utter garbage football, * all has been spent on the squad, rangers look well a head of us , on current form we will lose the league,e the managers signings have been utter joby with the exception on nguemo.

last january we had the chance 2 bury the hunns and * the title, we signed a 50 thousand pound player and blew it big time!!! USUAL, the blame of that * up lies to the board and the previous manager imo, now i am hearing that tm cant guarentee signings in january, i find this totally * terrible considering that defence gets raped every game and canny even get the basics right, they just cant defend, infact probly 1 of the worst celtic teams i have seen for a while, thats why attendances are down, * all is getting done to improve the team and am just * right off with them atm frustrated, bored and * right off with them, we need players on that * pitch that would bust a gut and * work there socks off for the cause all we get week in week out is lazy * turning up to collect there 15 grand a week and float about with not a * care in the world, we need 2 do something fast or the attendances will drop below 41 thousand, football is supposed to be entertaining all we get is a bag on nerves watching our team, am not saying go out and spend millions but am * sure they could go out and get a * decent defender in at least, we should be miles ahead of them monkey * and have blown it by not spending and it is just so frustrating:31:

Only reason I wasn't there today was also the weather.

I got up at 6:30 am only for every taxi firm to say the roads were too icy and they wouldn't go to the town where I get the supporters bus from to go to the airport.

I'd already paid over a 100 quid on the flight and couldn't afford to pay nearly another 100 on a taxi to Dublin airport so had to give it a miss.

Public transport was also a Sunday service I believe and I don't blame anyone who decided not to drive in the bad weather to the game.
