If Maj plays as he has the last month or so there would be no reason to drop him. He is caught square a fair bit but he is a beast in the air and is generally a good centre half with plenty experience.

Long term we need 1 genuine class centre half though, it is all our team is really missing to be a quality side.

Has to be K. Wilson-Mulgrew partnership. Rogne will be great but hasn't developed enough yet. i hope he sorts out his injuries and gets more game time.

I don't trust Loovens or Majstorovic at all. the sooner they leave the quicker we can move on.

I'd rather rest Kayal more and have Wanyama playing in the middle of the park as that's where i think he plays best.

I hope to see a new centre back in jan and another in the summer.

I like the idea of a Wilson-Mulgrew partnership. I would throw Wanyama in there but I think our midfield would be missing out on a quality CDM if we used him at CB. Although I rate Rogne his susceptibility to injury at such a young age worries me.

To be honest Maj and Loovens have been doing ok of late. They work ok together since Loovens can cover Maj with his pace. Sometimes I like Loovens too just cause he is a vicious * :84:

Other than a couple of dodgy moments when he should just have launched the ball clear, Loovens was superb v Athletico. He won everything in the air and I lost count of the number of blocks and interceptions he made. I would like to see him get a run because he is probably the best natural old style CH we have. Maj is solid half the time and looks a total liability the other half.

We need a new centre back, Rogne could use someone with experience beside him. Wilson, Loovens and Majstorović have had a lot of dodgy moments and I just don't feel safe whenever the ball is near them. Rogne would benefit a lot having an experienced and steady stopper next to him and it would certainly take pressure off Kayal and Wanyama who need a lot of time and effort to cover the defence.

Matthews and Izaguirre on flanks and Rogne with solid partner can relieve a lot of pressure from our midfield and it would allow midfielders to concentrate more to offensive duties, for example Ki would get more space and generally we'd be even more threatening in attack than we are now.

Loovens, Majstorović, O'Dea and Wilson are not solutions in the long run and we need to sell some of them in January. Keep few as back up, but we really need to free up wage budget.

Even if Fraser proves to be potentially solid centre-back, an older, experienced player is needed in the back line. For that club needs to cough up serious money, although I can't see it happening, maybe not even if we get rid of some defenders we have right now.

Other than his flap at the ball against Rangers what other dodgy moments did Wilson cause?

I would be happy with either of these two partnerships...............

    Rogne------K Wilson

    Rogne------Mulgrew

My first choice would probably be Rogne - Wilson.

This for me, probably Wilson before Mulgrew.

Would still rather we bought a new CB, somebody with a bit of experience and influence.

    If all fit.....

    1. Rogne
    2. Mulgrew
    3. K Wilson
    4. Wanyama

Sell Majstorivic and Loovens, and bring in a better option than the 4 i mentioned above.

Looked pretty shaky at Easter Road in first game of the season, luckily O'Connor was crap and didn't use those few mistakes. Overall I just don't see him as anything more than an average defender. People talk about his pace, though I don't see it's anything special.

We can do much better than him, Loovens and co. Doesn't seem like a long term solution for our back line.

I thought he had an excellent game against Hibs - his sprint back to deny Sproule was a good example of his pace.

With all the talk about CB and the need for ANother signing in this area...with everyone fit we having some decent options.

Wanyama, Rogne, K Wilson have all shown that they can do a job - just wish Rogne could stay fit!!!

Mulgrew is the obvious choice for LCB, perhaps we need another left footer signed, as Charlie has a few options to partner him...

With Jos gone, I still think we could do without Loovens and O'Dea and not have a problem - although injuries have shown us that we really do need cover in this area, so if Loovens and O'Dea do leave then absolutely bring one really good CB in.

Preferrably one who can play at both RCB and LCB, in the big Bobo mould (minus the bombscares) for around the £4m mark.

    With all our players back fit and one or two quality additions in Jan, combined with some acceptable exits (Ki for the funds required to strengthen, Cha as enough at RB with the arrival of Lustig and performance of Matthews, Loovens and O'Dea to make room for ANother CB) we would have an excellent squad, perhaps along the lines of;

    GK; Forster - Zaluska
    FB; Matthews - M Wilson - Lustig - Izzy
    CB; Rogne - Wanyama - K Wilson - Mulgrew - Maj - New CB
    MF; Forrest - Brown - Kayal - Ledley - Commons - McGeough - McCourt - Sammy
ST; Stokes - Hooper - Bangura - Keatings - New ST

Looking at the FBs we have Matthews & Wilson who can play LB & RB and for this reason and from what we know of both they both must stay. And the arrival of Lustig and return of Izzy we are covered here for now...

With 6 CBs we should also be covered here, particularly if we can have 1 in & 1 out (replacing Loovens with a good CB)

MF does look good if all 8 MFs are fit and on form, even better if more of our bhoys come through the ranks...

ST dept definitely needs more firepower though - I only trust Stokes & Hooper, as Bangura hasn't shown anything at all, IMO and Keatings has yet to get his chance, so signing a ST who we know can & will score goals is a must!

So right now, with everyone back fit, we have decent options at CB, however with one more quality signing in there the centre of defence will be great!!!

(sorry for going off post there but once I get started :icon_mrgreen:)

ps - happy for El Kad to return at end of loan and punt all our players currently out on loan. Perhaps give Towell a chance but we've got on perfectly well without the others - and whilst I do like Juarez, what's the point if it's not going to work out? Net the dough, invest the funds in the team and use the wages on ANother and we'll be doing well...

    Hail Hail

Good in the air, quick, strong, think it is about time we shaped up with these 2 as our 1st choice CB and continue to play them until the get an understanding and become a solid patnership instead of changing the CB's on a weekly basis.
