At least it’s clear for all to see now that major money needs spent on that defence, a new keeper and a whole new back line, tierney aside, is needed. Spending peanuts on German reserve players isn’t going to cut it.

We knew this in summer yet did * all about it. Tried to sign a 19 year old from the South African league.

We've needed a CB for the best part of a year or more I'd say we now need 2.
2 CB's

Rodgers has invested heavily in EVERY area bar the defence (apart from close to £1m on Gamboa).
The time has come to replace Ronny Deila's backline and make in Brendan's own.
Tierney has been sub-par for quite some time, but he's still an outstanding talent.
Lustig needs replaced now. Still has his qualities, but he's been getting roasted far too many times now.
Boyata I think still has a place here, just needs a rocket up his *.
Simunovic - despite his cult status here - has to go now. That is one of THE worst performances from a CB you'll ever see, no way back for him now imo.
Sviatchencko isn't going to get a game here.
Ajer and Bitton (despite being midfielders converted to CB by Rodgers) look to be the most comfortable at the back.
Gordon can just stay in Edinburgh as far as I'm concerned. I hate him.
Time to invest some serious money. -
Yes, it’s very clear now the areas where it is fundamentally important to improve. Being close to the transfer window and a winter break helps too, although with a couple difficult games on the horizon I’m hoping this result can be a catalyst for improvement after some drab performances that got us the three points.
I think there’s a few silver linings, we’ve seen where we can improve, the expectations/pressure to maintain the unbeaten run has now vanished and although some won’t like to hear this, it also gives Rodgers a learning curve to learn from and hopefully allows our fans to realise he isn’t as infallible as some think he is. His substitutions today were way off, his signings haven’t given improvement to us, and he has allowed a fair bit of consistency to creep in recently. -

Not trying to sound like an overly pessimistic *, and tbf I was going to post this yesterday in the Rodgers thread but held back.
I agree with the OP 100%, we do need to spend funds and get the quality in that Celtic need and Rodgers wants. The pessimistic part of me is thinking that it's gonna be the same as every window. We sign one or two players for a few million in total, and by the end of the window thats all we've done. We could make £30 million in the UCL but it seems the same story every transfer window. "We couldn't secure the deal, the right player wasn't available, can't compete with English clubs"... the same old story.
I hope I'm wrong. For once, I want us to get in 2-3 high quality, first choice players in January. Lets * go Celtic. (I'm not overreacting to the loss btw, but we need to get the players Rodgers wants, he needs to be backed).trackebhoy, Cupid Stunt, Mr Shelby and 1 other person like this. -
I feel we've had a few close calls domestically this season and it's caused the team to be more and more cautious abut he unbeaten run. Playing much more safely and not pushing as hard on the attack. Knock on effect was a lack of rhythm and natural instincts that propelled us to the run in the first place. With the run over hopefully we can get back to our normal play and go again.
Was always going to be tough pill to swallow when we did eventually lose. This one will hurt for a while, but hopefully some good comes from it. As loud a wake up call as you can get. -

James Forrest showed some fighting qualities and willing to run at players on a field * fit for a herd of cattle. He kept going playing his game trying to find players in the box.

That McGregor isn't really that good.
Surely Oz walks in when back.
Call um has as much fight as a man with no arms in a boxing match. In, at home to Thistle and Dundee. -
And that maybe KT aint as good as first thought?
Liability this season, amount of goals and chances given away on his side is absurd.
Needs to get the finger out his are.
He'll get the usual free pass as usual though because he's one of us and picks up mega phones and that *.keithyboy09 likes this. -

Tierney last year formed a brilliant partnership with Sinclair and we dominated teams down the left hand side but this season Sinclair's game has changed, if you watch him he is not sticking to his position and is coming inside constantly - I wouldn't even say he seems to be doing this to look for the ball, I don't know if maybe he is more interested in scoring goals than doing his job for the team but the result is that the whole left hand side of the pitch is Tierney's to patrol both in defense and attack - because we also know that Sinclair doesn't track back at all, ever (example being Kimmich's headed goal vs Bayern in Munich where Sinclair just watched him run past him).
This is also having the knock on affect of dragging the opposition right back inside and crowding the middle of the pitch, which then means that midfield runners such as McGregor, Armstrong and Rogic don't have the space to attack like they did last season which can be shown by our lack of goals from the midfield in comparison to last season.
Sinclair needs reminded that he is a Celtic player, and his job is as part of an 11 person team, and that maybe he isn't quite as good as he thinks he is. He was badly found out in the Champions League but he needs to get back to basics as a winger which will in turn help Tierney to get back into form and also allow the midfielders more opportunities -
Lay aff the Eldorado. KT is the best LB we've had in decades.Jeremie Frimpong, StPauli1916 and Cupid Stunt like this. -
